It looks like a sensor to turn accessories on and off with a remote.

I had cables like that for a VCR attachment. I forget the details, but it wasn't worth the effort.

I have a couple of keys on my key ring. Forgot what they are for. If not figured out by Year's end. I'll toss them. It's goes to something, I obviously don't need or use anymore.

I had a similar cable to that used with my media center computer. It went from the PC to the front of my satellite tuner box. It allowed the computer to turn on the satellite receiver select a program and record it like the timer on a VCR.

I found this in a box of misc. cables today and have no idea what it is or what it's for. Just checking to see if anyone of you electronic gurus might know.
Thanks

70' s issuied light source for shooting in dark places. Plugged into camera and that little bulb would light up and you could shine it on your camera to set shutter speed and lens openings. This was in the days before lighted screens on camera's.

I suggest you throw it away...shortly after you'll find a need for it. Good luck!

This is kind of the opposite of my normal situation.

I frequently lose something I really need. After spending hours looking for it, I go buy a new one. As soon as I come out of the store I find the old one sitting on the car seat.

If that is a bulb on the end it may be a device used to run the battery down. I had one like this for a device where I was told to totally run the battery down before recharging it to prevent creating a battery with a midway point that the charger would think totally charged when it was only half charged.

You put it there so you can have an idea of what you had to buy. I do it all the time.

Now, where did I put my glasses?

Looks to me like a optical audio splitter, S/DIF adapter.

Looks like the one end is an LED. Plug it in and see what happens.

A poor photograph. A little PP and better focus might help.
