Not really, if you follow the link, I am criticizing it as it needs to be.

Well I guess my uneducated eye just thought it was very interesting.. wasn't going to analyze it.. but looking at the link I can certainly see the salient points

Nice shot, I am green with envy. I want to find a camera that has the panorama program already on the camera. Until then, I will be attempting more with my d60 Nikon.
Angie... Wolf is right, the sweep panos cameras, mostly point & shoot cameras, really don't do that good of a job. What program are you using to stich your shots together with? Photoshop Elements 10 does an outstanding job with panos, and will even fill missing sections in like your #2 picture has. You will get much better panos taking your own series of photos and stiching them together. PSE 10 at times can be found selling for $50.00, the regular price is $79.99 the last I checked.
Checking the "Store Original" next to the browse before uploading, will allow us to enlarge your panos and see what problems you are having.

Mike. As before - here is a pano I took summer of 2010 - 4 shots standing in the highway - no tripod - no editing, just used ArcSoft Panorama maker and this is my shot

Teri... Very nice pano, I take all my panos freehand. I guess I'm too lazy to use one. I will use a monopod for shots once in awhile though...;0)
Mike
Crazy enough to try a new type of panorama shooting, using I/I/I ... So far I got to see my PC going nuts and cruch numbers like a maniac... I had to stop as it was taking way too long...
Reloaded my other computer (that was in need of a refresh anyway and will let that one deal with the panorama, all day if needed.
Oh, using PTGUI.
Yikes! Says it needs a 25GB temp space!, had to redirect to an empty drive...
Running now.

Mike.. I'm not going to call it lazy - how about expedient.. by the time I've gotten out the tripod, set it up, attached the camera and taken the shots I've probably lost 30 minutes instead of 5..... since I shoot thru the windows when we are traveling...the tripod gets in the way....

Teri....You mean the tripod won't fit in your lap...;0) I will stop to take pictures, if that's possible, many times it isn't. I very seldom shoot through the window, because I usually don't have much luck doing that. Saturday morning we were heading out to breakfast, 6:30am, the moon was setting just above the snow cover mountains, nicely lit by the rising sun. Light clouds around, just a perfect shot that you'd love to have. I just had gotten on the freeway, tons of light posts, telephone lines, and misc. other junk in the way. I knew I'd never have time to get off and find a spot in time before it was down behind the mountain, so another beautiful shot lost...;0( I have been known to even stop on the freeway shoulder in the past....;0)

I totally get it... when I used to go to work at 6:30 in the morning I would stop on the shoulder and take sunrise pictures..... never got caught!! I hate to miss a good picture....
A strange way to take a panorama...
Instead of a single vertical row I went...
Vertical, slant 30 degrees, vertical from the new center, slant 30 degrees, vertical...
2 Major differences:
- Parallax exists in traditional shooting
- Final result is larger with traditional shooting
I/I/l/ shoot 29 image
llll shoot, 14 images
III Difference
I/I/I/I diference
Interesting.... think I will have to experiment....
