This photo for me was the highlight...taken in the rain at a local artfest. The band selected my image as their Facebook cover photo, so every time they post appearance updates I get to see my photo. That makes me smile....probably not the best photo, but the end result makes me happy.
LOVE this photo! It really has a story behind it....kind of gritty. Thanks for sharing with us.

The Milky Way over Lone Pine

Fantastic. Is that glow in the bottom left the dawn sun or lights from the Antelope Valley? You must be facing E or S-E -ish. Those hills are certainly not (huge) Mount Whitney which should be behind you from the Alabama Hills / Lone Pine Area.
My pals usually go to Joshua Tree for their Milky Way shots. Good to know there are still other dark places in California. Actually the Carrizo Plain is very dark but the (foreground) topography is not as interesting for night star photography. Trona should be dark as well.
Built this 72" panoramic of a sunset on South Branch Lake. I broke it down and printed it in 12"x24" sections on my 13" Epson home printer and mounted the finished prints on birch plywood panels with 3M Roll Adhesive. Top-coated each panel with 4 coats of water-based polyurethane and assembled. It was the center-of-attraction at a craft show I was part in October. Sold it to a young doctor who had spent her summers growing up at her grandfathers camp on the small island he owned to the center-right of the piece. Installed it a couple weeks later in her apartment.
This was my 2017 highlight.
Bill, those were two really nice shots. The spoonbill especially!
Driving East in May from the Flagstaff area along old Route 66 with my lovely wife of 37 years. She has her own Nikon so we must be compatible.
Mine was photographic days--we made a grand tour of sorts to the Badlands NP, Mt. Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Salt Lake City, Bryce Canyon NP, Zion NP, Grand Canyon NP north rim, and Horseshoe Bend. It was a whirlwind trip, but exciting for me, especially since I do mostly landscape photography.

Took me a minute, but now I think you meant 1 1/2 and not 11/2. Accuracy matters.

Great shots. Thanks for sharing.
Mine would be moving from Auto to Manuel, put it in M jan 1 2017 and thats where it has stayed, also squeezing a Canon 100_400L mkII into my budget .
Wow! That's a tuff decision on the best for me. Probably between the car shows and parades. Great photos posted on up.
More than 40 years have past since I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Ansel Adams, I got to Yosemite and witnessed this magical place.
Occasionally I think about the contributions people who participate in photography contribute. Their eyes are sharper then most in seeing interesting and beautiful things, They capture this in a moment of time and they expose it to people who might have missed it opens the viewers world to another world.
