Anyone have any experience with Yongnuo gear? Thanks for any input.

A lot of people here use Yongnuo flashes and other gear. Clones of big dollar gear, cheaper works fine. I have been using a Yongnuo flash for two years.

Not the flashes, but I have the Yongnuo YN560-TX Wireless Flash controller that I use with 2 Canon 600EX-RT Flashes. It works great and seems built well enough.

I use a couple of Yongnuo RF603 II's as a wireless trigger for my XPro 2.

I have used their flashes for about four years, I have two of them and one Canon 430ex and use the Yongnuo more than the Canon unless using all of them for a shoot. Not as well built as the Canon but for the price I can by two or three of the Yongnuo.

I use their inexpensive radio triggers with my Alien Bees and Canon Speedlites and ST-R3 transmitter. Works fine.

Best,
Todd Ferguson

I have one of their speedlights and two pair of their remote triggers. Their stuff works.

I have two YN560 IV and a YN560-TX, and I'm very pleased with their performance.

I was looking to get the Yongnuo 685 for a Canon 5D MIV, but saw some articles that the Af Assist beam would not work with this Canon. Has anyone experienced this?

I am a little surprised that with that body you would not just get the Canon Speedlite, but you may have your reasons...

The main reason I am looking at a 3rd party flash is the cost. Canon only has three flashes and they range in price from $549 to $249. The other flashes are considerably less and come with good recommendations. Thank you

Bought a flash and the transmitters a while back to pair with my old SB600 (and as a back-up). Everything works just fine, but good luck trying to read the manuals. Even posted here on UHH asking if anybody had translated them into comprehensible English (nobody had). The system is very easy to use once you figure it out.

If you're considering a third party flash system, you may also want to take a look at all the new Godox gear designed to work with today's top camera brands. High quality, very reasonable pricing and available from B&H and Amazon.

One could probably download the Canon manuals from their website and get some insight into how the Yongnuo works as they seem to be intellectual copies of the Canon gear. I have 3 600s and the ST-R3 and am happy with it all. It just works and is very reliable. I don't think I paid more the $449 for any of the flash units when on sale at B&H.
