The 18-35mm is not a telephoto lens. I suggest you look at the 55-300mm for wildlife.

Go nuts and get the 200-500. It depends on what you want to photograph...

Check out the Nikon 70-300mm VR. It's great for the money.

WARNING!!! What ever lens you get, MAKE sure that (if it is an autofocus lens) has a Silent Wave Motor (SWM). Your camera does NOT have a focusing motor in the camera so ANY non-SWM lens will be manual focus only.

As others have noted Nikon's 70 - 300mm lens is excellent and offers good reach for distance shots. However, if you're shooting outdoors other than at wildlife, you're going to end up constantly changing lenses so you can go from a distant wildlife shot at 300mm, to a wide angle scene at 18mm. If you want a lens that can stay on your camera consider Nikon's 18 - 200mm 1:3.5-5.6GII that has a great reputation and is compatible with your D3300.

And bone up on field of view for your lens - http://www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/calc.htm is a good calculator for this. For example, a 600mm lens has a field of view on a full frame camera about the width of your thumb held out at arm's length.

No, go really nuts and get the Sigma or Tamron 150-600. I have the Sigma C and it is a wonderful lens. If you are insane, get the Sigma S. And physical therapy for the aches; it is a heavy son of a gun.

Depends on how much money you can spend! The longer the better. Also, the larger the maximum available aperture the better. Another thing to consider is that you can use FX lenses on DX cameras, which gives you more options. Just have to take the crop factor into consideration when choosing an FX lens.

The 70-300mm lens comes in multiple variations, so read the specifications carefully if you decide to go with that one. 300mm is a respectable focal length for wildlife, and the pricing on those zoom lenses vary but are in general very reasonable.

I use a Sigma 150-500mm with my D5300 with good results. It is heavy, but can be found on ebay for around $500. The lens has an autofocus motor and optical stabilization.
Best of luck and Happy New Year.

Depends upon the size of the animal and distance. I tried to get by with everything from 200 mm and up until I finally bit the bullet with the Sigma 150-600 C. And that is mainly for the small birds stuffing themselves on feeders about twenty feet away! It is okay for raptors in the wild.

An afterthought. Make sure to have a tripod stable enough for the lens.
