Let’s have some fun and see a thread of our ONE favorite or best photograph of 2017. I will start.

“The Granary” shot near Canyonlands National Park. It is an 8x10 contact print on graded silver gelatin paper.

That is really nice! You have a 8x10" film camera? Wow!

Yes. Photography in its most simple form. But the thread is for everyone to post their images too. Why don’t you choose one and let us all see it?

Cactus Flower: Taken with Pentax K-20D (14MP) Camera, smc-Pentax-A 50mm f/1.7 Lens. 5 image Focus Stack. Oh, I should point out these flowers open then wilt FAST usually before sunrise, so one has to shoot fast for a focus stack so the flower does not change and move much during say a couple minutes. If I only had my K-3 (24MP) then and my K-5 (16MP) was being cleaned professionally - I had persistent sensor spots. I would also like to state that I had been photographing Cactus Flowers from my yard for over two years to get one I truly like. This is the culmination of many shots of many specific flowers with several different cameras and lenses. I did make a ~ 8x10" Giclée Print, matted and framed on 11x14.

My big Hickory tree, shot out my bathroom window early sun on Hoar frost. This tree feeds and is home to many squirrels.

I have posted this before on UHH but repeat it here for purposes of your thread. It was published as a "Daily Dozen" by National Geographic in July 2017. http://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/profile/1561635/#awards

Of note is the fact that it was the UHH community who urged me to crop the shot to make it stronger. This advice I took to heart and was grateful to have the shot noted by Nat Geo. I was the beneficiary of very helpful comments on this forum for which I am still grateful.

Love the dark background with the colors of the flower.

Wish I had the expertise to do that. Great subject for B&W!
