Photoshop CC is not that complicated:

1-In Photoshop, open the foreground and background image.
2-On your foreground image, select the Select and Mask from the Select menu.
3-Use different selection tools to paint over the image you’d like to keep. You may change the View mode to On Black to see which areas need more attention.
4-To change the background, copy the background image and paste it on the foreground. Resize and/or drag the background image to reposition.
5-In the Layers panel, drag the background layer below the foreground image layer.

Broad brush character attacks rather than discussing the issues is the democrats modus operandi. Maybe you need to look that term up too. It refers to criminals.

Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions. I have downloaded an On1 trial. I am also trying Bonanza Burner. What I am trying to do is take a photo of an animal and transfer it to wood using a laser etching machine. I am trying to get the image of the animal on the wood to look like the photo and not crop out the fur, etc. of the dog. I am learning a great deal about laser etching, but I have so much more to learn.

Wow, you should have said that quicker......I just read an article on diy yesterday on how to do just that. Google transferring photos to wood diy.... The article will come up. If you can't find it pm me and I will see if I can find the link for you. Btw. Welcome to the hog.

As a professor once said: "The only dumb question is the one you don't ask". So I will and hope others continue to asks questions on which we would like imput.

Use the Refine Edge tool in PS. There are other more precise ways to do it with Topaz Remask or On1 Perfect Mask.

This topic was supposed to be about removing backgrounds. Why the silly fight? But, don't answer for me because I'm checking out of this one.

That’s funny! But please keep in mind there are many reasons for changing the background. Graphic Artists change backgrounds routinely.

Wow another arrogant snark comment never would of thought that. FYI something to consider is the artistic side of photography done in post that can only be done in post. Take a better picture would not apply in this case would it now?

Thanks for the suggestions...I have done a google search as you suggested and found some good information. I wish I had the technical skills to handle the photo editing needed. This is an example of an image that I have been working on that is laser engraved on cherry. (see attached)

I've recently signed up for Photoshop CC. It's Select and Mask tool designed to upgrade and replace the Refine Edge command in CS 6 is to me needlessly complicated, harder to use, and does an inferior job for the effort than the old way in CS 6. I'm still looking for improvements in CC over CS 6.
