Problem with Canon DPP 4

Has anyone else had problems with the DPP 4 software from Canon?

One day it seemed to be working fine and then I received the message "Unable to create a temporary work folder" after each file as I was down loading. I had to go back to the disk, an older version, that came with my camera to resolve some issues. For some reason the latest version does not play well on my computer.

I suggest you call Canon and ask them.
I have no idea. Good luck

Thanks SS

I have done that and they did help some what. I don't think they work weekends and I'm tired of working on this computer. I was up several nights past 1:00 am working on other related problems with the DPP software. I've gone on line and they tell you how it works and I know that, what they don't tell you is what to do to fix it. I'm a real persistent bast#&^ and I will get it fixed, believe me!

Just get Lightroom and leave DPP behind.

I've got Light room and really don't like it. I bought Laura Shoe's program on light room but prefer DPP when it's working. That's just me as I have been with DPP since I changed over to digital.

I do have to admit, it's something that I have thought oh.

Thanks

Well, that's a useless answer to the OP's question.
Patient: "Its hurts when I pick up things with my left arm". Doctor: "Use your stronger right arm instead".

Probably a corruption somewhere. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling DPP as a first step. What computer do you have? Why do you think it doesn't work well on it other then this issue?

Thanks, I have done that several times and I keep having to go back to the disk that came with my camera. I'm running a Dell studio XPS with 16 gb of RAM with about 2/3 free space with two outboard back up drives. The Windows Photo program is and has been working fine all along even though I don't use it. I have been on the horn with Canon support and so far that has not fixed the problem. I have another call out to Canon and am awaiting an answer.

Old habits die hard! I have been with DPP from the start and I have used Light room but it didn't win me over. I may change everything in January as I am having a custom computer built. I'd still like to solve this problem, and in time I will. No one has been able so far to answer my original question, don't feel bad because neither has Canon. Thanks and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Unfortunately, uninstalls don't always delete everything, and I suspect that's the problem here. Fixing it goes beneath the covers and likely would require manually deleting Canon folders from your Program Files and Program Files(x86) folders. I am loathe to suggest that to you since a slip of the thumb in those folders could have disastrous outcomes if you are not comfortable playing around in there.

Well that could be my next move. So far all that I have been deleting has been DPP 4.7.20, none of the other related Canon programs. There could be some software residing in these programs that would effect what I'm trying to do. I have everything copied and backed up. I've got too many Christmas orders to get out to the lab to screw up now. Thanks for your help!

I'm not talking about deleting other Canon programs, I'm saying that you haven't deleted all of DPP even though you think you did through an uninstall. As with many software packages, DPP leaves some folders and files even after an uninstall. Lots of applications don't clean up after themselves properly.

True, I was thinking that if I deleted all the related Canon programs that I may have a better chance of covering all folders and files. I have all my files backed up and if I delete the files that are now on the hard drive I could try and find any remaining folders or files. You are right, one slip of a finger or thumb and look out. Thanks again for all your thoughtful help!
