D850 Availability

Ordered mine from B&H on first day available for ordering. Took three months to get it but was in no rush other then wanting it before heading to Galapagos in January. Have made my 810 my back-up. So far I am really impressed with the 850.

How do you like the D850 compared to the d500. Is it worth the upgrade. I just purchased the 24-70 2.8 used while I wait for my 850 to arrive. Was told about two more weeks😳

I have my name on the waiting list at several different stores, B and H as well as two others and no info from any of them about a delivery date. Last week I contacted Cameta Camera just looking for a XQD card reader. While the card reader is on back order I asked about a D850 for the heck of it. They told me to put my name on their wait list so I said ok, but when are they expecting cameras and how long is the wait list. This was late last week. The were expecting cameras in this week and I was only number 10 on the list and they were expecting 6 D850's. I got my call today and the camera will ship on Monday. Yessss. Cancelled with B and H and I'll be watching for the brown truck by Wednesday next week. Can't beat that, one week on the wait list at Cameta's. Guess you shouldn't over look the small guy, they just might have what you want.....

I will be keeping both cameras. Whether or not it is worth the upgrade from the D500 is subjective, depends on what features you value. If I could only have one it would be the D850.

Makes perfect sense to me. B&H is the largest photo source in the universe, so I would expect them to have the longest waitlist. No mystery here.
