Welcome! I did the same thing - learned on an AE-1, disappeared, and came back to a digital world. You’ll find all your training on film is still useful! 4.5 years later I’m much more poor, but happy.
Welcome!
The d3400 will be great for you. I had the d3200, then d3300 and jumped to the d5300.
I now own two d5300 bodies as my girlfriend and son both like photography as well.
If it's in the budget or you don't mind buying a slightly used one, the d5300 has some
excellent features you would really enjoy(built in wifi, articulating screen, hdr, bracketing etc).
Paired with a nifty fifty or a 18-140 lens
these cameras are capable of stunning shots. Enjoy!!!
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
Im just like you only from the 70's. About 2 years ago I new I was going to get back into photography. I have been into motor cycles all my life. I got cought going a little to fast. Soo I got grounded. Anyway photography is my second love. There is a huge learning curve comming into the 20 century. It's a lot of fun. Not as fun as going 165 miles per hour but fun.
I bought a Nikon D3300 with the two lenses. And my first lap top computer. Im haveing a good time learning. The 3400 or 3300 are great starter cameras. Have Fun and Merry Christmas🎅🎅👍
Welcome to UHH msnikon, glad you joined us. I also shoot with Nikon gear, presently a D7100, D7200 and an assortment of Nikkor glass. Hope you get the Christmas gift you are hoping for.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.
