Moving on, hope these posts are not getting boring, but I wanted to share our awesome trip.

We drove from Flaming Gorge to Manila, Wyoming. Went from the rugged mountains and remoteness, to rolling valleys and plains. Lots of ranches, with sturdy black cattle and mounds of hay ready for the winter. We ended up sleeping in a truck stop beside H'way 1/80. There was a bitter, howling wind and the trucker's cafe was closed so we sat in the front of the van, sipped some beer and brandy, listened to the radio and watched the trucks roll on by till it was dark enough to sleep. We slept like babies...
In the morning, the cafe was open so we went in for breakfast. The pregnant waitress was outside in the wind having a smoke, then she came in and we got a huge breakfast with the other truckies.

The sunset that night was magic, it filled the whole sky and went on forever. I took some little video snips from the front of the car, funny memories. I have about a half hour of video of the whole trip, probably not possible to share on Uhh...plus it is very amateurish, but fun for our family.
Moving on, hope these posts are not getting boring... (show quote)

Very nice. You're having great experiences. The cowboy on the Wyoming licence plate is based on an actual photograph.

Very interesting posts - - glad you shared them with us. Your comments about the breakfast reminded me of some of those huge and delicious breakfasts I've enjoyed in Wyoming. The HUB CAFE in Moorcroft was always a stop, but that was perhaps 30 years ago.

Love Wyoming. Great pix. Have fun and drive safe. Sometimes cattle roam the hiway since there is a lot of "open range".

Great shots Jude, and a wonderful story! Having been a trucker for 45 years prior to retirement in 2006, I spent many nights in that particular truck stop on I-80 on my way from Denver to West Sacramento, CA. Those Wyoming folk aren't particularly politically correct, great people, and they can sure put out the scrumptious food as evidenced by your shot. Them country gals just know how to do it! Well done!

Looks like the little T/S at Ft. Bridger I used to stay at every so often when I drove over the road.

Doesn't take very much to upset you, does it?

Great post description and pic, but a bit upsetting that a pregnant waitress would be smoking.

I just went thru and looked at all your posts of your US trip. It appears you got a wide a varied U.S. experience. There is so much more here and so little time to see it. I hope you enjoyed the heck out of it. Some day I hope we can make it to your little piece of the world as I’m sure there is as much to see and do there as there is here.
