Moving on, hope these posts are not getting boring, but I wanted to share our awesome trip.

We drove from Flaming Gorge to Manila, Wyoming. Went from the rugged mountains and remoteness, to rolling valleys and plains. Lots of ranches, with sturdy black cattle and mounds of hay ready for the winter. We ended up sleeping in a truck stop beside H'way 1/80. There was a bitter, howling wind and the trucker's cafe was closed so we sat in the front of the van, sipped some beer and brandy, listened to the radio and watched the trucks roll on by till it was dark enough to sleep. We slept like babies...
In the morning, the cafe was open so we went in for breakfast. The pregnant waitress was outside in the wind having a smoke, then she came in and we got a huge breakfast with the other truckies.

The sunset that night was magic, it filled the whole sky and went on forever. I took some little video snips from the front of the car, funny memories. I have about a half hour of video of the whole trip, probably not possible to share on Uhh...plus it is very amateurish, but fun for our family.

Loved the framed painings in the cafe.

The beauty of these pictures is not the beauty in itself but you yourself are the history of these photos. You are history and from what I perceived you as a writer and has recorded life as it is today. You should continue on in this fashion to show a life that the majority of people have no knowledge. I should know I was history chairman for the Chicago Area Camera Association based with the Chicago History Society. Its what you are doing has historic value. Thanks for sharing.

We've stopped and ate at that truck stops several times...a little rough around the edges but the food is good. Must be something in the water, the waitresses are always pregnant, maybe some of our elected representatives have been passing through.

You are hardy stock, spending a cold, windy night at that noisy truck stop...thank gawd you had brandy!!

We've really enjoyed all your travel posts and thank you for sharing your trip with us...you're good folk!!

Thankyou so much. You don't know what your kind words mean to me, you've made me feel appreciated. I do like to write, and to visit these places was a dream come true. We wanted to see real America in parts not usually visited by tourists and I feel we did that in the short time we had.
Thanks again,
Jude.

Jederick thanks heaps. Interesting that you've stopped there too. In that big dusty yard was a lonely caravan with a poor dog tied up. He didn't like us at all! Barked so viciously at us we had to get right away.
Funny about the pregnant waitresses lol.
Yep, the brandy kept the wolves away...I guess it was the combination of the brandy, the droning of the trucks, and the van rocking...(just the wind, just the wind), why we slept so well.

That breakfast is making me homesick; I haven't been in the state for over 5 years. You just can't get food like that anywhere else.

No way could I eat it all, and our coffee cups just kept on getting topped up.

Great post description and pic, but a bit upsetting that a pregnant waitress would be smoking.

Yes! Shouldn't happen today, knowing what we know. My mum smoked all the way through with us,
its a wonder I'm still kicking.
