Good to hear that there are laws! Let's see them in action to stop the unconscionable greed and price gouging on display in the pharmaceutical industry, to use a horrid example. Insulin was produced synthetically for the first time in 1978 by Lily, who also brought us Viagra, that incredible cash cow. Surely the cost of synthetic insulin must by now be quite reasonable, given competition, that idol of capitalism. We found that our cat has diabetes; insulin for him, suitable for humans, purchased at our local CVS, is $250 per 10 ml vial, not covered by insurance. This is even more expensive than ink-jet printer ink!
Oddly enough cats can go into remission from diabetes, unlike humans. Cat Caruso is in remission, a break for our budget. How many human diabetics have inadequate insurance? I dare say that the policies pushed by the current administration will put many diabetics at risk. Surely pharmaceutical companies can make a reasonable profit without endangering the lives of our citizens? Or are sufferers from diabetes and other chronic conditions to be blamed for their life threatening illnesses? Just a way to thin the herd??
