... photo #1 is titled Autumn equinox and shows the sun rising down the middle of the road. Any history on that road? Was it intentionally built to go toward the fall (and spring) equinox sunrise? Does it follow property lines and did the original surveyor just pick that as his straight line starting point to block out all those property lines? Would be interesting to know....

Most roads in my part of Iowa run straight east west and north south. The land was divided up into 640 acres or a section (a sq mile) and land was then divided into and sold in 40,80,160 320, 640 lots. Most sections of land have these gravel roads all the way around them so Iowa has thousands of miles of gravel roads, the middle section of the state has the most in line to the compass directions. I can drive for hours on them and do lol. Hope this answers your question.

Sharing some of my favorite sunrise shots from this past year in the rural areas of NE Iowa. We get a lot of ground fog in the early morning hours from all the vegetation and it is one of my favorite times to get out and enjoy. No critiques just for sharing some of the beauty of my state and area.

I enjoyed each one, hard to pick a favorite.
