Daylight is longer by several hours, which is a big plus for me. I'm more enthusiastic about spending time outdoors - no icy cold winds to deal with, and no need to wear gloves.

Makes sense to me, Rook ...

Difficult to take pics with heavy thick gloves, huh?

I use a pair of women's gloves (she left them in my car) ... they fit nice and snug, and don't impair on my picture-taking abilities ....

Oh, and they're washable, too ... another plus ...

Actually, Mark ... I may even shoot MORE in the winter, because of the snow ... and it comes right up to the door ... so ...

Neat, Bob .... red barns are fun to shoot, aren't they? ... I must have quite a collection of 'em, by now ...

I kept waiting for this to turn into a full star, as it unfolded ... wouldn't THAT have been neat?

Yeah, me, too ... film photog from 1960 to 1995 ... went to digital in 2010 ... (withdrew for 15 years, just before Dig came in)

When did YOU turn digital, Bob?

The end of 2013. 45 years with my Canon F-1 and prime lenses. Sold it 1 year ago. Camera still worked a well as when it was new.

Yes, the F1 was a pretty durable (and big) beast! ... I had a pair, along with a pair of Nikon Fs, too ... never was one much for loyalty ... in fact, back then ... I always found Canon built a better camera, and Nikon built better lenses ... but, since the Digital Transformation - the shoe seems to be on the other foot, somewhat ... not that Canon Top of the Crop aren't really fine ... but so many of them engage plastics! ... And, until recently - Magnesium was king on the Nikon front ... and now, L lenses - are really tough to beat .... so, it's all changed ....

I went dig in 2010 with a Fuji HS-10 ... loved that thing ... still have it ... if it wasn't for the fact it depends on (4) AAs - I'd probably still be using it! ... Went to a full DSLR a year later ... Canon EOS Rebel T3 ... not a bad little camera - only 12MP though ... a year after that, I doubled my res, going to the Nikon D3200 ... which started me on a pair of parallel climbs ... which got a little lopsided when I bought those two ProSumer Nikons - the D7000, and D7100 - a couple years later ... in 2014 - I started the Sony SLT climb ... can't remember where the Pentax K-50 fit in ... think it was BEFORE the Sony alphas, and AFTER the D7000 ... after the a77 II - decided to stop ...

Afraid of going to 13 ... it's unlucky!!!! ... So, maybe I'll wait till I can do TWO upgrades, at once ....

It used to be almost like 50/50, but now with my health in the shitter, I don't do much anymore in the winter, as any cold really gets to me very quickly!

The older I get the less I like dealing with the Florida heat. I shoot little outdoors during the summer months as the heat/humidity combination here is brutal. Now that we're coming into pleasant temperatures I'll be able to get back to those outdoor shots again.

I generally choose to shoot when it is warmer. I hate Winter (I know... I live in Vermont... WTF? Right?) Shooting (or doing most anything for that matter) when it is below 0F kind of sucks the fun out of it.

This will be my first winter purposefully shooting. So I won't know until winter's over. I don't drive much on snowy roads so that will limit me - rolled my car sliding off the freeway one New Years Eve. Lucky no injuries and car survived, too, but I've decided it's not worth my life or car.

Hmmm I suppose I could date sort my files and figure it out but just off the top of my head I'd have to say they are about the same. Summer has mor daylight and usually more travrl but winter has more holidays and group gatherings.

vice-versa. Guess I'm just not into "green" all that much. Locally, you can't keep me away from my camera in Spring or Fall. Winter snow, ice storms, frosty fields or frost on a window .... can't resist that stuff. But green leaves ... I'd rather sit in the pool with a cocktail, thank-you very much.
