Some people? Most of us couldn’t take a good photo if our life depended on it, no matter the gear.

Most of us, if not all of us also couldn’t tell the gear used if we were looking at two identical photos.

Those who are skilled have been taking award winners with way inferior cameras for a very long time and will continue to do so even if the sensor isn’t made by Sony or if the camera isn’t a Nikon.

On another note, congratulations to Nikon for engineering a superb camera.

Sadly, there are a lot of photographers who assume that if they have a better camera
they will instantly be better photographers.
I've seen many wonderful images shot on point and shoot cameras.

As others have pointed out, most of the images we see here on Ugly Hedgehog
are mediocre snapshots. Occasionally we see a beautiful work of art!
Even so, I never leave a negative comment (unless a person asks for constructive criticism).
It could well be that that is the best photo this person has ever taken
and I don't want to discourage them.

I know with my own photography, many photos that I thought were wonderful
20 years ago, I now recognize as being mediocre at best.

If we have advanced in photography as a hobby or professionally we should all be in that boat. Along with equipment the skill has advanced too, we hope.
