If you would spend that much on a project, why would you go with an I5 processor rather than an I7?

How do you know what processor is in my computer? It runs for me, and that's all that matters. End of converesation.

Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to find out. But the original poster is keeping mum over his choices. I guess there’s nothing there for us to learn

I was asking the OP, it seems you took over this posting for some reason. The OP listed his components and it clearly shows an I5 processor. I was just curious as to why the smaller slower processor. It seems an I7 would be more in keeping with the other deluxe components. I was just wondering if there was some advantage with going with an I5 like lower temperatures or compatibility issues. It was just a question, I didn't mean to attack someone's choices.

Don't worry about apologizing for your mistake. The NSA knows everything about his computer and what processor he has in it......lol x 10

I went with an I5 Processor simply because it is all you need for gaming. An I7 in my opinion would mainly be suited for a professional environment such as 3D modelling, video rendering, programming and other types of work that is resource intensive. The I5-4460 4 core 3.2GHz CPU has fulfilled all of my requirements.

I don't feel the need for an I7 simply because there are features that I7's have such as hyper threading which is something that games don't use those kinds of features, same goes for Octa cores on the AMD FX CPU's possibly the new RYZEN series as well.

I also run my I5 with an aftermarket cooler instead of the stock which has kept my I5 temperatures around 25-30 degrees Celsius which I am happy about because I could be expanding its life span by not running it too hot, also its quieter which is a plus.

I apologise for my late response as I have been focusing more on college work .

Thanks for the reply. Info is not too late since I am still looking to buy a 15.5" laptop in the near future. Most of what I want it for is photography, but not 3D. I know laptops do not require quite as much speed due to the compactness of the circuits and laptops are prone to heat up more due to the compact housings. It sounds like from your description I would be just as well served with an I5 unit rather than paying an extra 150-200 for the I7.
