stopped by for a much too brief visit! Thank you Angela for giving him my address. And thanks to all of you Growers of Milkweed. This is the first Monarch I have ever had visit and I want more!

This was the best I was able to grab before he flitted away, high and far!

He's a stunner, Sherry, and your butter portrait is absolutely beautiful!! Shame he allowed you only one shot, but you nailed the shot perfectly!

You were lucky to get this op, Sherry, but you made the best of it--a beautiful shot.

Sherry, I'm so happy he found his way into your garden and that you were home to meet and greet him!!! He's a beauty for sure and now that he knows the milk will be flowing in your garden, he'll tell all his friends to visit and maybe lay some eggs!!!!
Fantastic shot and thanks for the memories!!!

Thank you, Donna. I did get off about 20 rapid-fire shots as he flitted around, but the others just showed too much flit. When I first spied him, I thought it was a fritillary, then he slowed down enough for me to see more than an orange blur.

Thanks, Angela. It gives me so much hope for next year and the year after that and . . . ! I had decided that Monarchs had me on a "DO NOT VISIT" list. I suppose I'll be out every day from now till frost looking for him or one of his brothers.

Beautiful, Sherry. We have a lot of Milkweed going here - 6 different species. Milkweed is required as a larval host plant for Monarchs, of course. For nectar, we have noticed that they have a strong preference for Joe Pye weed. Even when they have dozens of other choices they will all be crowded in on the Joe Pye. I think Sweet Joe Pye is native down your way. It is really easy to grow.

Very nice shot, Sherri! Could be on his migratory flight and dropped by for a refresher on your pretty yellow Lantana!

Thanks for sharing!

Sherry, great photo and I will be joining other UHH members by planting some milkweed myself.

Thanks for looking and for your kind comment, Mike!
Angela was kind enough to send me some milkweed seeds and I will be joining the effort to Save Our Monarchs! I will definitely add Joe-Pye weed to my list of nectar plants to grow. Weeds are one of the things I seem to be really good at growing!

Thanks, Bob! My last sight of him was flying high and southward until he became just a speck, then out of sight. My thought was that he was headed south of the border, down Mexico way.

Thanks for looking, Greg! I have some Angela-strain milkweed seed I am just itching to get in the ground.
