Thank you, Angela. You probably repot yours every time it looks a little crowded -- stop it!
The blooms of yesterday are dead and gone today. It may be that the blooms typically only last one day, but I can't help but wonder if changing its location, light, humidity (oh, my) made it drop the blooms so soon. Plenty more buds about to burst forth - we'll see what they do.

I repotted mine years ago because the leaves were rotting away and now I have it in a smaller pot and it sits by the window in my sunroom. I never knew it made flowers... I'm going to have to talk to it more and maybe stress it out so she gives me some babies!!! Have your camera ready and take more pictures of your blooms!!
Have a good weekend, Sherry!

terrific set looks like a cactus or bromeliad

Thanks for looking and commenting, Chuck! I don't know if the sansevieria is related to cactus or bromeliad or not; I do know that it will survive low light, low water, and high neglect - so it's been a go-to house plant for me forever! This one is being raised outdoors (except in winter) getting early morning sun and the shade of the eaves the rest of the day and is thriving (low water and high neglect still apply). I wouldn't have brought it in so soon if not for the cold snap and the buds.

Last year as I was overwintering a Sansevieria plant (Snake Plant; Mother-in-Law's Tongue) on the enclosed porch I noticed four stems of buds growing from the plant. I never saw the blooms - don't know if the buds died before blooming or the blooms are very short-lived. It is very pot-bound and I was considering repotting it about three weeks ago when I discovered another stem of buds. I dared not disturb it and have been watching it very closely. It has bloomed! I have never seen one bloom before. In research, I discovered that blooming is indeed rare for them and is generally brought on by stress, typically the stress of being pot-bound. So, I'm not sure this plant will ever see a new pot.

What we do for our art! Torture plants even. Nicely shot photo though.

Well, if you talk mean, that may work. But, about the babies: after blooming the shoot will cease to produce new leaves, but the flowered shoot continues to grow by producing plantlets by its rhizomes. Can't depend on seeds - they're too rare. I'll have to keep watching mine to see if they get to the (red or orange) berry stage. (Another photo op - yay!)

I just watched a youtube video and it didn't mention stress, but it did say on an older plant it usually will bloom the end of summer, every year and that the flowers smell like honeysuckle! So exciting that yours bloomed!!

I'll never be as happy with a sanseviera in the future if it doesn't bloom.
But, I must repot, and almost all the sites I visited said "stress".
Go for it, Angela! Let loose! See who has the sharpest tongue! (no, hold back a little)

From a safe 1,000+ miles away,

Beautiful, Sherry! I've never seen (or sniffed!) one of these, and you captured it so well in your shots!

Thanks, merry! More buds had bloomed yesterday morning and started dropping petals last night - so it's looking like they are very short-lived.
Still awaiting the berry formation!
