Hello everybody---My name is Tom. I just renewed my interest in photography and I am troubled. One of the troubled areas are, shutter speed. I have both a DSLR and a SLR and would like to know how to find and manage shutter speed. Any advice in the matter would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you asking how to control shutter speed??
If so, the first thing you need to do is to read the camera’s manual from cover-to-cover.

Order it before you get coffee this morning.
Do it now.
5,...4,....3,....2,....1,..... NOW!
Hit the “buy now” button.
Do it!

That's a good one. I wonder if you could stop GAS, if you were disciplined to always stop at 1 and not NOW. I just received this book not long ago. The book is very informative.

Actually all you need to do right now is read the section about controlling shutter speed. Don't pay attention to these guys who tell you to read the manual cover to cover. No one does that. They refer to the manual on an as needed basis.

I am sure until you investigate and understand the Exposure Triangle, you will be asking this question forever! Search this site for "Exposure Triangle", I am also sure you will be busy for quite a while reading the results.
