My dad is a ham radio operator, who sent me this meme today. Could many of us not say the same for photo equipment?

Absolutely! (ham radio gear and cameras...) I actually made a video (for my son) telling him how much everything is worth and how to sell them - seriously. He’s a photographer also and shoots Canon too, so no worries there, but the radios and test equipment are another matter.

When I'm gone, I'm gone. I really won't care by then. I'll leave notes, but what my son does with my stuff is up to him.
By the time we crap-out, the constant advances in imaging technology will make most of our stuff obsolete and virtually worthless anyway! So whatever we have told our wives what we paid for the stuff may not be far off.

Old saying, seen it many, many, times here in reference to photo equipment. I never tell my wife what I paid. But she knows I have a sheet of paper listing all of my equipment and what to expect when put on ebay. Boxes for all are clearly marked in my garage. We, in our camera club, have an agreement with each other that upon our passing we will sell their equipment and give everything to the widow. It is a nice piece of mind for all of us. My dad had an extensive train collection, he had an agreement with a company called Rawlstan, they came and packed up everything, listed it in a magazine form, sent it out to train collectors, and the collectors put in bids for it. They charged 10%, which I thought was very fair and mom ended up with a nice nest egg.
More of an explanation would be good.
My sister would sell all my photo equipment at a yard sale and what did not sell would end up in the trash can.

Please forward your sister's contact information.
I see one big difference between the two.
Photography is usually done in the great outdoors(usually)!
Radio looks like it's done in a HOLE!!! LoL
