This vine is climbing everywhere amongst the other vines and up into the tree tops. I never noticed it until two days ago. So many flower buds yet to open up! The blooms close in the afternoon. Can anyone ID it for me, please?

My wife calls them cypress vine. The Latin name is unpronounceable. Pretty little blooms.

Thanks for your kind comment and for the ID, Angela! I don't know why I didn't reach out to Google. I guess I was just feeling lazy and knew that some of the Hog's finest gardeners would know. I can't figure out how it got so extensive without my noticing it. Internet says it blooms all summer - do you suppose it's been there showing off all summer and I was turning my head away? Oh, wait. This summer whenever I was outside I was blinded by all the sweat running in my eyes!

Thanks, Janos. I searched for info on the vine and yes, the Latin name is impossible. I'm hoping I can make a decent shot of the vine when the profusion of buds all open up. I appreciate your looking and your kind comment!

Well I did, but Angela beat me to the punch! Beautiful, Sherry, and you probably already know how much hummers love the flowers.

Ugh.... I don't blame you for not noticing it, with the heat and the rain... but like Donna said, I'm sure the hummers love this vine!!

Luckily you showed a leaf in the image as there are other Red flowered vines whose flowers are quite similar but whose leaves are different. I have one such vine. It's a Cardinal Climber Vine. Flowers are identical but the leaves are different. BTW, if you have a smartphone, there is an app that can ID plants. It's called Garden Answers...

Thanks for looking and your nice comment, Donna. When I noticed the vine, I did hear some nearby humming. I went out earlier today to check on the vine and try some more shots, but didn't encounter any butters or hummers while there. Maybe tomorrow!
