You weren't here idiot. You have no clue as to how bad it was, and still is. The death toll in Florida is now at 50 and could still go up, 15 million were without power, and over 100 thousand are still without power. Try going for 10 days without electricity. And then tell the people in the Keys, on Marco Island, in Naples, and in Ft Meyers where I live how much worse it could have been. you're liable to end up with a broken nose and a few loose teeth.

Have fun in your Sunshine state, Sunshine! You are the one that started the insults and political slurs remember?

Florida has taken a heavy hit, for sure. Biggest since Andrew. Economically just recovering from citrus greening and other things, but don't assume that others are unaware of the issues people face.

You have no idea what I have experienced, and no basis to make accusations.

However, since you wish to be the one instigating the downward spiral into the slough of despond, enjoy sloshing around in the dark.

Some of us have better things to do.

It will, in about 400 years.

Where are all the crabby ones coming from? I understand the rather idiotic comments from the far right but surely the rest of us can be more thoughtful.

RickM1950, thank you for the beautiful photos. Montana is normaly beautiful. We were there, and in Orego and Idaho, last month and smoke and ash were everywhere so I understand a bit of how bad it has been there.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those wonderful people and beautiful places, just as they are with the hurricane victims, the earthquake victims, and others who suffer around the world.

Wildfires are a natural phenomenon. They are a source of renewal for land, animals and flora. Without wildfires forests and clearings get cluttered with undergrowth, grazing animals lose habitat, predators lose a source of food.

Controlling wildfires simply makes a fire worse when it does happen, and it will ultimately occur. Controlled burns are much preferred.

I know humans look at burned out areas as devastation but they really aren't. It is nature's way of renewal.

I was in Yellowstone right after their fire and some sections looked like a game of pickup sticks. Trees laying all over the place. At least there were no homes involved. I feel so sorry for all those that lost everything to fire and floods.
