I'm the OP and I'm revisiting this thread. 3 months later I can get the canon 5D MK II with canon 50mm f1.8 for $500. Camera appears to be in good condition and everything works but shutter count is unknown. It's under my 600 budget and I'll have to save for a next lens and or sell some gear Please let me know if you thing this is an ok deal. Any caveats? Thanks

If it is in good working order it sounds like an excellent choice for videos and still photos.

If you are good at examining cameras, that helps in evaluation. Have you put a memory card in it and then into your computer to see how the pictures turned out? Use one of the online shutter count finders to see what the numbers are. Do you trust the seller? If it is an individual you do not know, that adds another aspect. If it is eBay, then you have a few protections. If it is a trusted vendor like B&H, Adorama, Cameta, or KEH, you are in good shape. Another vendor, run the name by us to see if anyone knows their reputation.

I'm looking for a full frame DSLR for $600 or less. I'm on a strict budget. Obviously I am looking at used. I Currently own a Nikon D3100, D80 and D200. While I would prefer Nikon due to lenses I am open to any brand. 3 of my 4 current lenses are fx sized. As a side note I have found a Canon 5D MK II for $595 bare body battery and charger. It's in good shape but I do not know the shutter count yet. Please offer suggestions on suitable cameras to look for. Thanks in advance

At that price break, for full frame, the Nikon D700 is your logical target. They are great equipment. I would think, with a budget involved, you wouldn’t want to go off on a buying spree for glass to fit some other brand. Especially since you have Nikkor glass. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

I agree but i could not find one at my price point plus is has considerably less pixel count in the sensor. I wanted to find one as i already had Nikon glass. Not the best but not bad glass. I will be keeping my Nikon gear i think.

Well i bought the Canon 5D Mark II with 50mm 1.8 lens. I think i like it a lot for a first full size sensor camera. I have a lot to learn changing to a Canon camera but ill give it a go. Here are some test shots in program and auto iso. i don't have a clue yet how to set up the camera the way i want it. So its time to read the manual and learn

Congratulations. When shooting animals or birds (or people) try to focus on the eyes.

Thanks and I know the camera focused on the nose! Got to figure out the canon focusing system and how to set it. Or I guess I could just do manual focus for now until I learn the camera

You can't get a refurbished crop sensor D7200 camera for $600. Used, Gray Market, or otherwise? Good luck.

"I'm looking for a full frame DSLR for $600 or less." Full frame. Got it?
