As an aside, there have been a few new digital point-and-shoot camera out, bearing the Minolta name...

I used to have a YashicaMat 2 1/4x2 1/4 twin lens film camera. Great camera that was stolen on my first trip to Europe in 1969. The camera was nearly a clone of my uncle's Roliflex at about one sixth the price! Would love to see them back in the market.

I suspect it is just some huksterism to connect their phone clip-on lens 'the lens' to a legendary past. Hasselblad has done the same.

StanMac Loc: Tennessee

Yashica TLRs in most all of their iterations are readily available on the auction sites. They are in quite the demand these days with bid prices seemingly rising daily. The resurgence of interest in film is having an impact on vintage film camera prices, I do believe.

I had the 124G which was the top of the line. It was a clone in everything but quality. However, I still had a lot of wonderful photographs from it. My first camera was a Ricohmatic 225 and the next was a Mamiya C300 and a bunch of lenses and accessories. Entered 35mm with a Canon EOS Elan II and then to digital. Those were the days.

The Electro was the first serious camera I ever used. In high school we had a photo club that was responsible to take all the photos most schools would have a yearbook and/or newspaper photographer for. The club had one of these cameras which I used to photograph everything from football games to award ceremonies. Great little camera. It would be interesting to see it brought back in a digital version.

If Yashica were smart, they would stay out of the market. Sigma, a well-established brand, brought out a camera a few years ago that had rave reviews. Where is that camera today? Excepting Canon and Nikon, the remaining companies have a lot of noteworthy innovations but still cannot sell more cameras than Canon and Nikon. And we wish Canon and Nikon would adopt more of those innovations.

Interesting. My first serious camera was a Yashica TL Super SLR, with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I gave that to my dad and stepped into a Pentax Spotmatic after a very brief fling with a Canon FT-QL.
