Nothing dramatic here - a few uprooted trees, lots of debris in the yard, a few retention ponds overflowing, electricity still not on for a few, our water was out for a few days..... I suppose I could take a photo of a faucet NOT producing water, or get down on the ground and get some dramatic shots, but it is hot and muggy, and I am tired and sweaty from cleaning it all up, so just not enthusiastic about taking photographs to remember it by......

Wow! Fortunately, the people I know in FL got by unscathed.

Flooded neighborhoods near my house in Altamonte Springs Florida. Sorry iPhone shot through the car window.

I drove 12.5 hours to Mobile and then 12.5 hours back for a trip that normally takes 8 hours with people who were concerned for their family and on the return concerned for their property and safety of those that did not leave. Floods, destruction and no electricity do not make for happy photography in Florida in September's heat and humidity and swarms of mosquitoes. We were lucky but not unscathed. In some areas where the homes are not too badly damaged the docks on rivers are decimated and power still not restored. Some of my family member's property are totally gone. I guess you had to be here to understand.

I am surprised there is a paucity of pix from the recent meteorological events.

That may be because all the cameras blew away from their owners and ended
up in the water or the mud, possibly a good distance away. A 200mph
wind can do some strange things. >Alan

In my case, the storm came through in the darkness. My mobile home survived intact. Call it survivor's guilt, but I just couldn't take pictures of the loss and misery of others. So I opened my home and shared what I was blessed with instead. No time to take a photos then.

I think you might be flirting with disaster by trying to photograph damage to somebody's property. They may not appreciate you trying to show off their suffering.

After the hurricane passed by, I saw a lot of damage to homes and the environment. And the thought of photographing some of what I saw did pass through my mind - quickly. This event was devastating to people as well - why dwell on it? The storm has passed but the destruction will remain for a long time - let's move on.

We should move on Madman. We have three more storms in the Atlantic to keep an eye on. Unfortunately, the season is not over for us. We could very well end up in this mess again before the season is over. I certainly hope not, but who knows?

You know, I just wouldn't do that, it isn't who I am.

As far as the season, watchful eyes on Maria coming in low through the Caribbean.

Maria is pretty close to the track Irma took. Definitely need to keep a look out on this one. I learned something from Irma. Riding the storm out is the easy part. It's the aftermath that really sucks!

One was enough - the stress unbelievable especially on my 89 year old mother. I would not want to see her have to face another hurricane.
