Every year we go on vacation to Walt Disneyworld and thought we would go in September this year as last year we went in October when Hurricane Matthew hit the area which closed the theme parks for 1 day.
Little did we know that Hurricane Irma was heading our way. We arrived on September 4th and had some nice days at the parks then September 9th Disney announced that they would close all 4 theme parks, on the 10th and 11th of September. When Irma hurdled her way through our area I think they said she was a Catagory 2 with wind speeds of 70+ miles per hour.

We were able to stay at our resort but had a curfew where no one could leave the resort. We had Fema and DMAT (Disaster Medical Assist Team) from Hawaii, New Mexico, North Dakota based at our resort so we were safe, we didn't lose power but had a lot of tree damage and debris in the swimming pools. We were so much luckier than other parts of Florida and the islands.

Did you stay at a hotel in the park or out side? Great to see they only had to clean up and not rebuild. Thanks for posting.

I don't know why a medical rescue team would be involved in a cleanup operation. Disney, I'm sure has a chunk of change to pay for the cleanup of their private property.

I think they were expecting the storm to be worse and needed these team to help clean up around the Orlando area as well.
