Sometimes a bright sun IS your friend! I hope you enjoy these as I have many more I want to share - and am on my way now to see what the golden hour may provide. It's been sooooo long since dragons visited, I just can't stop shooting them.

All are SOOC except for cropping.

Nice ones, Sherry. Sometimes, we can't be choosy with our time of day or lighting. I do 90% of my shooting in the late afternoon & try to avoid the harsh midday light (at least for photography) as much as possible. However, if I see an unusual bird in my back yard at midday, I'm not going to ask him to hang around for a few hours--I'm gonna take the shot now & bugger the light, lol.

Thanks for looking and your nice comment, Earl. Yeah, those photo subjects operate on their own schedules. I just hate when they tease you and then disappear as soon as you pick up your camera.

Thanks, Donna! I'll see if I can find a carrier pigeon to deliver Hot Pink to your yard - think that'll work? Unless there's just one - then you'll have to wait for me to make a few hundred more shutter clicks.

Thanks, Ron! I'd never before seen a pink/purple one. He was quite the surprise!

Thank you for those kind words, Angela. Sure! We can make a trade on monarchs and dragons. But first, I'll have to get some milkweed growing. I knew nothing of their needs until you started your midmonarchwifery and educated me about it with your posts. I told Hubby I was going to have to grow some milkweed. He immediately vetoed that action. He doesn't really have veto powers but I don't want to disillusion him. Subtle persuasion is in the offing - or maybe just clandestinely planting them and feigning surprise when they come up. Yeah. That's the ticket. Feigning surprise.

Great set Sherry! A nice variety of dragons. Looks like you've got a female Roseate Skimmer, female Black Saddlebags, female Needham's Skimmer, and your money shot of a male Roseate Skimmer. Well done. Keep them coming.
