The Nina and Pinta ties up in South Haven for Labor Day weekend. Give you a flavor of this quaint SW Michigan Town.

Comments, Criticisms, Snipes, Jabs requested, I promise to heed the suggestions of the community and (cough, cough) smile.

Wonderful photos of South Haven. I haven't been there is years, since I was a kid. I grew up not too far away in Buchanan. Back then, we didn't get out as much as people do today. Times were different.

Beautiful pictures. South Haven brings back fond memories - I lived there for a few years when I was a Michigan State Trooper. A beautiful city on the water.

Thanks, Tom. I am trying to get used to using the Free Topaz filter program. These two came through that program, well and PSP 2018.

Yeah, we have been out of SH for about 10 years now, but still close in the Fennville/Saugatuck area

I like the effects you used on the tall ships. We saw the Nina and Pinta when they were on the Black river in Lorain, Ohio, enjoyed going aboard and getting photos.

My favorite is the second. It looks like a painting by an old master.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but you did ask for honest evaluations.......The first two for me appear to be overcooked HDR images which kind of turn me off. I know you used Topaz and I'm guessing that it does similar post production work as HDR. Don't get me wrong, HDR does have a place just as long as it's not obvious. Personally, I would like the first 2 images with the Topaz filters toned down a bit. I know suci loved the first two, so that just goes to show you that everyone has their own likes and dislikes. I respect suci's opinion and would hope that suci respects mine as well.

Thank You, Brent. Even within my own house there are people that believe photographs should always remain at least within reach of reality. I typically use HRD to narrow stops of dynamic range (or increase the number of stops of range displayed ), but some times we must play to discover how far we can safely go.

I probably wont go aboard, but I do plan on photographing their departure Tuesday to see if I can backdrop them in front of the South Haven Light. Thank you for your comments.
