I just got home to process my shotts of the Eclipse.
The first one is the 92.5% of the totality I was able to get
at my location in Ashland Oregon. The second is the 1%
and best shot of the Sunspots. Smoke was a slight problem.
I did a 2 star alignment the night before and last alignment the day of.
Celestron 9.25" 2400mm scope, CGEM mount, Nikon 800E camera.
1/200 sec, f/10, temp 5150, ISO100
Converted to B&W to negate the pink from the smoke.

I am glad no one looked hard enough to discover that only one of them was flipped H and flipped V to be realistic.

Actually the corrected one I processed in Oregon and the bassacwards one in California.

I've never turned my cameras. I probably should, but have only tried it on less than a handful of times.

After all, the Sun and Stars always looked round to me anyway....

Simpleton Sonny

Tomorrow the two Palm Trees come down. If Hector shows up...
They've become too messy and too bothersome to keep. Queen Palms are never supposed to get this big.
The upside as a big increase in sky real estate.

Congrats on gaining sky real estate. I would get myself decapitated if I attempted to cut down the humongus Oak Trees in the backyard.

Very nice regardless of smoke (and pink is not a terrible color)!

Was the reduction in sunlight noticeable at 92.5%; dimming, cooling? Did you shoot some pinhole effect shots? What solar filter did you use?

Funny you should mention....
I woke up thinking a time lapse might be interesting.
Especially for insurance reasons if he falls...
But at least a time lapse leading into the newly clear sky-scape.

Going to be able to get more southern area, and some South-Western.
But getting away from the mess of the blossoms and nuts they drop is the reason.

Southern exposure in the summer is the Holy Grail to me.

Ahhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

It's beginning to cool off a bit here, down to 105.3 from 107 earlier.
So I went outside, curious about angles.
I realized the westerly Palm is the more obstructive of the two.
So I think a time lapse of "The Clearing of the Skies" will show more 'real estate' recovered South to North/West, than South/East.

Well, onward through the trees!
