Welcome Chris! I live in Rose Hill, Texas outside of Tomball. I've driven through Waco many times while I was working at clients in Dallas. Waco was among the top 5 tourist destinations in Texas according to Texas Highways. I must be dense, but what is in Waco that would be of interest to a photographer and/or a family day or weekend trip?
I would appreciate the direction from a proud resident! God bless Texas.

Hi TexStan,

Well, many come for the Magnolia shopping complex which includes a home store, bakery, and food truck area with a play place for the kids. My wife and I haven't even bothered with it not because we don't like Fixer Upper or Chip and Johanna. That whole vibe just isn't our thing. Now the entire downtown area is experiencing a bit of a renaissance as developers are retrofitting many of the abandoned buildings for stores, coffee shops, bars, etc.

Also, the river area and parks are really fun. You can rent a mountain bike at Bicycle World and ride it down to Cameron Park where they have some great singletrack trail. I see a lot of people kayaking though I have never done it myself.

My wife and I used to live in NYC and were a bit spoiled by the food there. However, there are a good variety of decent restaurants in Waco.

As far as photography goes, I wouldn't say that Waco is a destination, but it is what you make of it I suppose!

Hope that helps friend!

Shalom,
Chris

Welcome to the UHH. Do you know if the Health Camp is still there? Great burgers.

Hi Sendai,

Yep, Health Camp is still there, though I can't say that I have tried it. Will do so upon your recommendation!
