So I am wondering if you are looking for comment or just displaying the image....general guidelines for the section can be found here http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-474354-1.html

Edit: I guess what I'm trying to say is more can be done to bring out what you have captured here, which might not necessarily make it better but if you presented it as you wanted then that's great...

I'm open to suggestions but prefer to do any modifications myself.

No issue with that whatsoever.....I would then suggest bringing out some of the shadow detail left dark side of the face....as is it's just black..but maybe that is by choice.

Here's a modification as you suggest. I brought up the shadows. Personally, I think it loses much of its "punch." I'm interested in other folks thoughts, though.

You could mask it invert it and just bring out the left side was my thought, as I liked everything else as was....

I think what you mean is that you (Frank) could mask and invert it........That's beyond my abilities in Lightroom, lol. So, having admitted my limitations, if you would like to try your hand at it, I'd love to see the results. And, while I'm asking, it would be great if you could describe how you do that magic. Thanks, Greg

I can understand that you think the shadows add drama and mood. However, in keeping with the title of the thread I suspect that it might benefit from having both eyes visible. Even if the other eye was only just visible it would convey more of the stare that your title refers to. The rest of the left side of the face could stay in shadow, which would maintain the somewhat sinister mood.

Gorgeous light and a very cool setting for this impressive beast.

As much as I love dramatic light, I agree that a judicious, delicate amount of selective lightening around just its shadowed face may be beneficial. Let's see what the other guys come up with

Most of the photos I see on UHH are easily modified... excuse me "enriched" primarily by cropping .... I have saved this one in my UHH file for a later date when I need a challenge.... this one is difficult... the invert and mask is a humm, how/what? learning thing for me. At this point in my lazy approach to "enrichment," the best I could do is saw the two photos in two and then glue together!! Left lighter joined with right original.

I must compliment UHH today in one of the posts I learned that I do not say I modified my photos, rather say "enriched" .... I like that. Now with Linda's sugar coated medicine " judicious, delicate amount of selective lightening around just its shadowed face may be beneficial" She indeed speaks with poetic melody always has and always will .... and I like that! I really do!

IMO the solution is embodied in the responses of Frank and RG.

Perhaps I titled it wrong. Maybe it should be "The Eye".

Really was just trying to make you aware this shot had a touch more potential Greg...I think it is captured and composed well...as for how it is enhanced I'll just say some adjustment layers in Ps with some brush and clone work...more time spent would produce better results...I only did this because you asked and tried to be very subtle in keeping with the look I perceived important to you..look forward to more of your images.

Very nice work, Frank. I agree that you were able to do it subtly. I understand the lightening, but did you have to clone an eye on the left or were you able to pull that color out of the original?
