Including this useless post, there have been at least 16 separate threads regarding the eclipse, since the 15th. I'm so sick and tired about everyone creating their own separate thread about this subject, I hope the whole country is cloudy that day!

It may SNOW that day on the sun

There is always the pinhole projector way of seeing the eclipse if you don't have the proper glasses.

You must be out of the path for the total eclipse.

I always love complaint posts because they really show the stupidity, of, I am so sick of eclipse posts, so I am going to post an eclipse post.
Photography is a wonderful outlet and everything that can be captured is fair game, that's the enjoyment of it.
Just about Everything has already been photographed so put your cameras away. Lol
I love photography and on a personal level enjoy the pursuit of getting better and pushing my limits reguardless of what other photographers are doing or what has been done.
Love the time spent with this beautiful medium and if needed stop looking at instagram and threads for inspiration and let your own inspiration surface!!

Photography is fun. Learning about photography and all the aspects of photography is also fun. Applying what I've learned and learning while I apply what I've learned is fun. Using all this expensive gear that I've accumulated over the years is fun. I've turned this eclipse into an adventure and to me, adventure is fun. For the eclipse, I only had to buy one solar filter; I already had two but I needed an even larger one to fit the hood of a couple of my larger telephoto lenses. Everything else I packed into the car for this adventure I already owned. Tomorrow morning I will head to the beach and set up my gear while the wife plays with our puppies. We will make a day of it at the beach and we will have fun. I will take hundreds of photographs and some of them will be really good and I doubt I will post a single one on UHH, but I will have fun and isn't that what it's all about. By the way, this will be the second solar eclipse I've photographed.

After the 21st, expect at least a week of topics such as: "My images of the eclipse came out terrible... what did I do wrong?", as well as the Gallery section swamped with images of the event - a few good ones, but most will be forgettable.

And your point is?

I'm giving it a shot in Casper WY, but I won't post any or ask any questions; I know how that pisses everybody off.

So the people who feel obligated to acknowledge every Gallery post with something like "Nice photo" are going to be really really tired.

So sorry I annoyed you, that the thought that I might think you care about my post is so abhorrent to you.

Why do you go to a forum where amateurs post random thoughts. People like you are why I'm killing this membership.

No, it does not pissed everyone off, just a handful of folks, the minority...

I don't believe asking a unique or new question bothers any of us. What bothers me (I can't speak for others - and the reason I started this thread - is the number of numbskulls that won't do any research, including the reading of similar threads, and ask the same question or make the same announcement that four or five (or more) members have posted and which have been answered accurately. The first time a question (any question) or announcement is posted, it is good and valid. The second time that same post is made within 24-48 hours, its repitition can be interpreted as an oversight. The third, fourth and fifth times in the same period of time is an indication that some people are not paying attention, have some stage of dementia and/or have an IQ three points below plant life.

BTW, if a question is not answered to your satisfaction, ask for clarification. Don't start a new thread and begin again at step one!

I don't believe asking a unique or new question bo... (show quote)

But that holds true for most any posting here. Look at just about any thread, you will find multiple similar or same answers to a question. I believe many responders don't actually read the thread prior to responding so we end up with a whole repetitious bunch of the same thing. It's human nature to want to add ones two cents to the collective response and I have nothing against anyone adding to it but, just repeating what has already been said, yes, you are correct, it is annoying.
As for people asking the same questions or posting the same information; either they are looking to start a conversation, feel the need for inclusion, believe they are being helpful, haven't been logged on in a while, aren't paying attention, are lonely or bored, like to hear their own voice or are just looking to increase their posting count.
What about the folks who post they are going on a trip to wherever, what lens should they bring. Come on, seriously!? What lens should they take!?
Then there's the posters who know how to log on and post here but apparently never heard of Bing or Google. I guess they feel other uhh members are better at simple research than they are.
The list goes on and on but why let it bother you. How many times have you seen a fairly crappy photo posted and people still give it some sort of praise. All the time...
It is what it is. Remember, common sense isn't, and just like radio or TV, if you don't like what's on a station or channel, don't get angry just ignore it and move on to the next one.

The big day is here. By 4 this afternoon it will all be over and then the barrage of images, good bad or otherwise, of the exact same thing, begins.
Have a safe and pleasant eclipse day...

Well I'm looking forward to seeing the next total eclipse in the UK - which will be on the 23rd September 2090.
I wonder what sort of cameras and filters people will be using then. And if they'll still be asking the same questions.

I live in Oswego NY, and I will shoot the eclipse from my front doorstep... a wise man once told me--- "no matter where you go, there you are"...
