Can you please be more specific with your examples? I have no clue what you are talking about since all Nikon lenses will fit any Nikon camera body.
Are you sure of that?
I'm not a Nikon user, but I've heard enough to search on "Nikon AI", and I found the following:

Later cameras that are made for AI/AI-S lenses (up next) may be damaged if you mount one of these lenses, so don't use an unmodified non-AI lens on them. However, entry-level digital SLRs (DSLRs) such as the D3xxx and D5xxx series can mount these lenses just fine, although those cameras then operate without their light meter.

AI lenses have a ridge that catches a feeler on a ring surrounding the lens mount on the camera. (Mounting a non-AI lens may bend or break the feeler.)

Canon is about the only one that still have several cameras made in Japan. Top of the line Sony A9 is made in Thailand. All of Pentaxes are made in the Phillipine and other Far East countries. Nikon only make the D5 in Japan (the Df is made in Japan but don't know if they still make them) and the rest of the DSLR's in Thailand. Even high end lenses like the 105mm f/1.4 is made in China. So essentially all companies moved their production to other countries.

I had always heard that, but I guess in the last couple of years, all has changed?

Ly ticked off in what they are doing. I bought a d7200, not because it was their flagship D.C. Camera. But it seemed like a nice piece of equipment. Then came the
d500. Which did not bother me. Then the d7500. Which did not bother me. But now they are making new optics with new electronics that cannot be used with the camera that I bought. It is really frustrating that they did this. It seems to be a real screw job. I will keep what I have but I won't be buying anymore Nikon equipment. They seem to intentionally screw people
Hi. Love the website, but I am unhappy with Nikon. ... (show quote)

When you purchased your D7200, a certain number of lenses would work with it. Today, at least those lenses will still work with that camera. It is conceivable that the new lenses which won't work with your camera wouldn't work at all if they had to work with your camera. So, these new lenses don't harm you at all; why do you begrudge their owners use of these lenses??

Sure, you can switch to some other company, but their bodies won't work better with your lenses than the D7200 does. How would you gain by switching??

I don't see how American manufacturing practices relate to cameras. Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony, Tamron, Tokina, Sigma ... (there are around 45 total) are Japanese companies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Photography_companies_of_Japan

Not every camera company is Japanese but I can only find one American camera manufacturer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Digital_Cinema_Camera_Company

The only Irish camera company I could find is http://www.valeovision.com/ based in Galway but they are automotive camera's.

I've spent two vacations in Ireland, in 2001 and in 2005. The first time I went there, it was obvious that Ireland didn't have the explosive period of prosperity after WWII that we had in the US. In fact, it seemed stuck in a past time with horrible roads and telephones, tiny houses/flatswith tiny appliances etc. (It was quite different in 2005 when there was a period of prosperity never seen there before, with road and housing expansion and lots of new jobs. Of course, that fell apart when our own economy collapsed.)

So in the period after the war in America, there was suburban sprawl, massive road improvement, individual houses and yards for many people who hadn't seen them before, big, comfortable cars, big appliances etc. Over time, I would say by the late 60s and early 70s, imported products from Asia started penetrating the US market. Manufacturing declined. Eventually American firms started manufacturing their own products in countries where labor was cheap, and we've gotten ourselves into a real mess. The country has changed.

As far as cameras go, we've always had the technology to compete with the Japanese and Germans. (Didn't we put people on the moon? I have to bring that up once in awhile.) Kodak pioneered digital photography but threw away their advantage when they failed to take cash in on it, still believing that film would be a source of profit for a long time.

I don't want to ramble on and on. The point is that we failed to keep up with other parts of the world in our ability manufacture decent products at an affordable price for whatever reason, and generations of Americans will be paying for it.

When Nikon has something in the pipeline the public usually has heard the rumors with plenty of notice. They are a good company and produce great cameras and lenses. I've been waiting on the D850 for a long, long time and the rumors have been rampant. Every manufacturer has new, bigger, better in line all the time.
