I have breached this subject because I care for myself and other members here. I have had a for sale derailed and false implications to my character right here at the HOG. Another poor member had his ad made into a multi-page tax counselling session.

You are posting in critique of my thread, no problem. Will you answer this question, without digression? Is it acceptable to you for someone to get into your business dealings without being asked? A simple yes or no would suffice.

This is a community. In my communities, I voice my opinion and will work towards improving where I feel there is a need. You can take a stand and say that trespassing into another members business is ok. Fine if that is what you believe. I believe otherwise.

I took a look at your postings and believe the classified as you are whining about was a VERY questionable post for a D500 you were selling for a very high priced body that no one could get you to verify info on. Your tactics in the sale hid the bodies SN indicating a likely grey market product. You also indicated it's warranty may be registering, yet no warranty slips were included. A very misleading and totally false statement.
You were very appropriately called onto the carpet by members here for such a misleading post and had I read the listing I would have made many of the same observations of your discrepancies.
Honesty is the best policy and that posts smacks of dishonesty. Kudos to those who brought these issues up to other readers who may have been less knowledgeable.

Apparently the idea of a self-defeating position is lost on you.

I'll try and simplify for you.

What is a self-defeating statement?

A self-defeating (or self-refuting) statement is one that fails to meet its own standard. In other words, it is a statement that cannot live up to its own criteria. Imagine if I were to say,

I cannot speak a word in English.

You intuitively see a problem here. I told you in English that I cannot speak a word in English. This statement is self-refuting. It does not meet its own standard or criteria. It self-destructs.

The important thing to remember with self-defeating statements is that they are necessarily false. In other words, there is no possible way for them to be true. This is because they violate a very fundamental law of logic, the law of non-contradiction. This law states that A and non-A cannot both be true at the same time and in the same sense.

Hello rpavich,

You have responded to this thread with some colorful and quite adequately worded sentences. Unfortunately, you have neglected to remain on topic. Is it possible for you to explicitly state your position on trespassing? Are you open to anyone getting into your business dealings? Or to affect your business dealings with a negative comment or irrelevant derailment?

You're out of gas and exposed on both threads you have going.

I'm quite comfortable with folks giving feedback on any gear I'm selling. I've never had a negative experience here or other places online, but then again, I've never done some of the things or came off suspicious like you've done in your D500 for sale thread either."

Possibly that's the difference?

MT Shooter,

What values and standards do you live by?

You just slandered me with a lie. You claimed I made a false statement in the D500 ad. I did not.

If that single ad were the only buy/sell/trade ad here at the HOG that was derailed, I wouldn't be speaking out against behavior that I feel to be unacceptable. Unfortunately the buy/sell/trade section has many threads become tainted or derailed.
