Which composition do you like? Just got back from Iceland & will have lots more to share!
I like the second one the best. The first one is a little dark, IMO.

Welcome home. The tonal range is better in number 2.
While tonal range may indeed be better in #2, since you asked about composition specifically, my choice would be #1, perhaps with more work in post. To me, the mountain in #2 is crowded a bit by the right side of the frame. A very slight crop of #1 on the right would really do it for me. BUT...the answer is what YOU like!
Composition #1.
Everything else #2
Either way, they are both nice.

I have to agree with the composition being better in #1. The haloing around the hill is a little bothersome and distracting. Both photos, to me, feel top heavy.
Arg...
Composition wise, #2 because the mountain top is closer to the "third" intersection point.
I do like both though.
I slightly prefer the composition of the first shot. There is more rushing water and the river's curve showing and less of the bridge which is a man made element.

A huge thanks to mrbill I now have the composition that is the best!

Second one. The water looks better.
You might want to add your wisdom to a member's question about shooting in Iceland.

My preference would be the second.
