Nikon D750 or D810?

I currently shoot with a Nikon D7200 and am considering either a D750 or D810. I have read lots of reviews of both, so I am not looking for commercial reviews, but rather day to day use. My question is whether anyone has used both, and if so, what is your opinion on them regarding image quality, overall handling, and versatility in actual use, not in testing. Even though I am using a DX camera I own full frame 24-70, 70-200, 85mm, 105mm and 300mm lenses, so lenses are not the issue. My fundamental question is what benefits each would bring--and what limitations or issues would they have. Thanks in advance.

No matter the comparison of those two cameras, the new D850 will be better than both of them ;)

Wait for the D850 and then decide.

I am assuming the 850 will be a very nice camera, and also very much more expensive than either of these. My thinking at the moment is that the price of both of these is likely to come down once the 850 is available, which makes buying one of them more feasible.

I have the D800. Love it. The new D810 is a great Full Frame in my opinion. I would go with the D810 or wait time the new next D8 series comes out and get a better deal on the D810.

I have two D800s and one D810. I took a look at the D750 before I purchased my second D800, and I felt it was a a step sideways and down. It has some good features, none of which matter to me. Image quality and detail capture was my primary goal, and the D750 just doesn't reach the bar set by the D8XX cameras. So when it was time to get a third body, I got a D810, which is a little better than the D810. Slightly faster frame rate, one stop better ISO performance, ISO Invariant design, better preview screen, and Group Autofocus. I don't care about video modes, articulated screen wifi, etc etc. I have some of the lenses you have, and in order to get the best out of them, I wanted a camera that exceeded others in that respect. I have not been disappointed.

You can get a D800 with low mileage (<20,000 clicks) for around $1000. The D810 I just got had 19,000 clicks and I paid $1700, but a refurb can be obtained for around $2100 if you look hard enough or wait a bit. No doubt the D850 will be a great camera, but I am not an early adopter - give Nikon's recent missteps with the D600 oil on the shutter, D800 AF error (sharp on one side, soft on the other), and the D750 shutter problems which is currently under recall that has recently been expanded. I would suggest waiting a while until it is clear that there are no issues with the new camera.

The D750 is a fine camera, but is, in essence, a full frame version of the D7200, with a few enhancements. The big drawback is the shutter issues that have plagued it and is currently under recall notice. It seems to affect some, but not all D750's. Aside from that, I think you'd find it to be a very nice camera.

My grandson has a D810, and he has nothing but praise for it. Of course his lenses do make it shine. Additionally, it has that 36mp sensor and gives very sharp images. There is much to be said for the D810. While it probably is more classified as the top end consumer full frame camera, it certainly is nipping at the heels of the full-on professional platform Nikon DSLR's. With the advent of the D850, coming soon, we will likely see prices on the D810 start going down. There should be some good buys on the D810 in the near future. Besides, the D850 is a new model, and often it behooves one to wait awhile before buying to see what issues come up, as they often do.

In the end, as to which camera to buy right now, I'd say that you probably wouldn't go wrong with the D750, but if you can afford a few more $$$, I'd say go for the D810. If you ask my grandson, it's a terrific camera.

I've shot with a lot of Nikon DSLR cameras. From what I've seen, the cameras that don't have an anti-aliasing filter in front of the sensor yield slightly sharper photos. I know that a lot of people would disagree. Some people say that it's just a matter of sharpening but the cameras that don't have an AA filter still have an edge in sharpness. The D750 has an AA filter. The D810 doesn't. I would rent both cameras to try them out. LensRentals.com is very good. I've rented from them numerous times. They include a pre-paid return shipping label in the box to makes returns easy.

Ive used all these cameras for photojournalism, and bought two 750s for work and personal use. The low-light capabilities, focusing, weight /size and speed of the 750 clinched it for me.

Ive had both of these and whilst the d750 is excellent I have to say the clarity the d810 delivers is jaw dropping in comparison. The raw files are huge but that gives you more to play with in post editing. You wont go far wrong with either of them.

Wait for the D850 if the D810 is a consideration.

Short & sweet - I have both the D750 and D810.

I got the 750 after the 810. I started with a D70s, went, in order, to the D200, D3 and D300, D800, D810.

I got the 750 because of the articulated screen when my legs began balking at getting up and down, squatting and such. I thought the screen would resolve some of the issues; it did and didn't.

I seldom use the 750 because the buttons and controls are so foreign to me and as this is a hobby I have not been sufficiently motivated to learn, if you will, an additional operating system.

I don't know anything about the 7200 so I don't know whether its controls fall into the 750 genre or that of the 810 - such may be a consideration for you..

I have the D750 but wish now I had chosen the D810. Much better for my purposes.

The D810 is an incredible camera as is the D500. I like the D800 and D750 but they can't really compare to the D810 and D500. I cannot wait to get my hands on the upcoming D850.
