I've been using Nikon cameras since the release of the D70 (used the Fuji S2 before that). Nikon software was OK until it went stagnant and the replacement was a giant step backwards. Bye, bye Nikon software.

Yes it worth it for me.

It's not worth it to me. I have PS and LR, and they do all I need. Paying $130 every year would gain me nothing at all. However, if you really want/need all the latest bit-by-bit improvements, then the CC plan would be good for you. There are so many alternatives to each that cost a fraction of Adobe's price. Decide what you want from processing, and then look at what's available.

First of all, you can load it to as many PCs/Macs as you want but only two at a time can be active and usable and is controlled with your Adobe account credentials. Lastly, it never ceases to amaze me how much time and energy is wasted on UHH hashing over the Adobe subscription plan and why it is so hard to accept as a good deal for what you are getting. I'm assuming that if you are on this forum you have purchased a camera and lens costing at least $1000 so you must have enough money to get the equipment. But when it comes to software, it seems many people get real cheap and I personally don't understand why. Just like the camera hardware, the post processing software takes time and resources to develop and is why companies charge you money for using it. Personally, I would not want to be without Lightroom CC (not Light room) as it is the link between my camera and my computer.

Depends. How much do you use it and which functions do you rely on? If you use it only a bit and do only a few things, it might be better to look for those functions elsewhere. But if you are getting serious about PP, the LR + PS deal is quite good.

I switched to the subscription when I realized I was spending about the same (or more actually) for annual upgrades for light room and PS elements (not even full PS).

It is worth it, you get photoshop and lightroom upgrades included. Over the counter you do not get upgrades. By the time you purchase lightroom and photoshop you have many months worth of upgradable software at $10 per month

And when you purchasing it is may already have been sitting around for a year. The subscription is the only way to go in my humble opinion

This is nearly like the Canon or Nikon debate.

Is it worth it? It depends.

Buy the old version? If you have an old enough camera and don't want any updates (I really like dehaze and the updated lens profiles).

Subscription? You get more than just LR including PS and the mobile app which is really growing on me. The updates have been very nice.

Originally I thought I would save buy buying LR6 one time and using it for years. Well, technology moves so fast that it got stale faster than I expected and I was looking at needing to buy again. I've also used GIMP and many of the other options. They work fine but have a sizable learning curve. I've found a lot more good tutorials on LR+PS than the other tools out there. If you are already a polished digital editor, you can learn them ok. If not, it is good to have a community you can ask for help.

Lightroom/Photoshop/Bridge/ACR/Website/Stock Images/a bazillion free training videos/ books and tax deductible, absolutely worth the 10 bucks a month to me.
Plus it's fun to play with photos in PS.

My son and I both share the Creative Cloud that includes Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. This is perfectly legal, so the $9.99 is even a better bargain. It is easy to share images with each other, get advice, etc. You can load the package on more that 2 computers if you want...I know my son has it on his main computer as well as his laptop. You can only have 2 computers running the programs at the same time, but this isn't an issue with us. He started using a LR4 years ago, but encouraged me to use the Creative Cloud program. I finally convinced him to share my license and get the free upgrades. I had a lot of fun showing him some of the new features and shortcuts.

Are you a professional? Then absolutely YES. If you are a hobbyist with a serious habit, then quite possibly. Do the math for cost over time.

The license allows using LR on two machines, so you can use it on a desktop and laptop (or Mac notebook). You can load it on more, but it is network copy protected. The license does not care about platform... 2 Macs, a Mac and a PC, or two PCs will work.

I say no; get lightroom 6 which you buy outright like any other software on the market. The licensing allows you to put it on two computers. It sells for $142.95 and in jsut over a year you are ahead of the game of the extortion fees from Adobe. NOw to add insult to injury, you have to commit to one year of rental.

Horse manure! you get LR AND Photoshop. Remember what PS used to cost. True you get what you pay for. When you buy the SA version you only get fixes and NO new function. So after that year you are likely a year behind in function and getting more out of touch. If you only do FB then fine, if more serious the SA is just hanging on. Not only that, the whisper is that SA 6 is the last SA version. You might as well jump on the boat today.

I say get the CC version and stay with the curve for all you needs.

Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC are sold via subscription only.... $10 a month WHEN YOU PREPAY A YEAR (i.e., $120).

Lightroom 6 is almost identical to Lightroom CC, except LR6 is sold as an outright, perpetual licensed product, for one payment of $142. This license allows a single user to install the s'ware on up to three computers.

Don't know if it's still available, but at one time LR6 was offered for $99 upgrade to licensed users of LR5 or LR4. This was the first time an LR upgrade was offered and supposedly was "single user, single computer" (even though I bought this way, my license shows multiple computers okay).

So, assuming you are only interested in using Lightroom: If you pay $142 for LR6 after 14 months you're using LR6 "for free" from then on. But if you instead subscribe to LR CC, by month 14 you would already have had to make another $120 payment to "rent it" for a second year, so will be $240 out of pocket and will have to pay another $120 every year, ad infinitum (unless Adobe decides to increase the rent).

From my own experience with them for many years, when using both LR and PS and keeping them reasonably up to date with regular upgrades... it works out to cost about the same to subscribe as it did to upgrade every three years (i.e., approx. $360 every 3 years, which is approx. how often I upgraded).... EXCEPT that PS is no longer available other than via subscription! The INITIAL purchase of Photoshop was quite pricey... $500 or so the first time I bought it, which increased over the years to around $650 with the last version (CS6), if memory serves. But after that first purchase, PS UPGRADES were much lower cost... around $200 to $250. I did a number of those over the years, using PS since version 4 in the mid-1990s.

For a lot of people who don't need full blown LR and PS, for only $70 right now (on sale) Adobe Elements 15 makes a lot more sense. It's a lot more geared for non-professionals.
