Why B&H (and reputable camera stores) are the logical choice.

I too have been a loyal customer to B&H and Adorama. I had a similar experience with Adorama and everything turned out perfect.
That's good to hear, Jessie.

Both have great customer service.
Thank you! I believe that although we are competitors in business, when it comes to serving customers, we share a common vision and goal
Yep. B&H and Adorama.
It's worth the peace of mind for sure.
Ditto! Never had a problem with these two companies.
Have been buying for years and they are the best!

Do you suffer from delusions? Idol worship is seldomly a productive pursuit.
i've bought from them by mail and in person. always satisfied. also have had good experiences with Samy's.
I also have been a customer for about 2 years now and with two exceptions have been pleased with service and price. Delivery is quick which is much appreciated. The two exceptions are: First last week was considering the sale of the Lowepro fast pak 350 but could not determine whether my Sigma 150-6000 lens would fit , not attached to camera. I tried calling the help line twice and could not get thru the first time and put on long hold the second before giving up. So, sent e mail as they suggest asking the question about that bag vs possible others. Now Wed and still no response. Guess have to look elsewhere. The second instance was last year when they had the Nikon DX 35 lens on sale. Tried to order on line but their system was allegedly down over the weekend. So Tried Monday. Without telling me they confirmed the order by e mail but at the regular price. So, I called and was told told the sale time was over as of the end of the weekend and there was nothing they could or would do. So I cancelled and waited for the next sale and everything then went smoothly. As with many companies it appears based on my limited experience the phone service is poor.
While on the subject any recommendations for a reasonably priced back pack camera bag that will hold the Sigma lens?
I buy from local camera stores anytime I seek their advice. When I order otherwise, I only use B&H or Adorama. They are honorable in their dealings, something that cannot be said for many other Internet sellers. On the recommendation of Bob Shell, I once bought a Contax G2 from a Brooklyn dealer. The camera was advertised a being brand new. Well, guess what: not only was the camera not new but some internals had been cannibalized to repair another G2. Not only that, but the manager of the place in question argued with me about the repair cost that Contax charged.
This would never have happened with B&H or Adorama.

Online order entry is disabled every Friday evening and Saturday until sunset NYC time out of respect for the Sabbath when commerce is prohibited. If a product's rebate is set to expire at the end of the day Saturday, the customer still has several hours Saturday evening in which to submit an order. We're sorry you were dissatisfied and we were happy to honor your request we cancel the transaction.

Respectfully, your experience is limited, but valid nonetheless. We are proud that our overall reputation, especially including our telephone order and customer service teams, is excellent but regret your dissatisfaction.
Herschel is a rock star at B&H. Helen at Adorama as well.

Indeed. Both represent their brands with excellence and elegance. We're trying not to let Herschel know though because we know how he admires modesty and self-deprecation. :-)

They have treated me pretty good. I only wish they'd stop using UPS.
For most domestic orders shipping options include UPS, FedEx, & USPS. Not all are free, but they're available if you have a preference.
Couldn't agree more. Its especially important for those of us who can't find, see, or touch equipment from our chosen brand in the few remaining local retail outlets.
