The Leica M10 with a 35mm lens would be a great choice, oh thats not a "bridge" camera Lieca Q ?

Fuji 100T is a fun camera or the Sony RX100 is super small great image quality, good battery life...that what you should do

I just recently acquired a Sony RX10 for the express reasons you mentioned. I got a great price on Ebay and couldn't be more happy with the camera. It has a 28-200mm Zeiss f2.8 lens and great video. Just like any quality DSLR it has all the bells and whistles while also being able to operate in manual. I made the decision after pricing Zeiss lenses for my other cameras. It was a no brainer for me. There are several fine cameras out there and I'm sure you will get various recommendations. I was just impressed with the really nice glass that the Sony has. Good luck!

It's probably been asked and answered many times but I figured its been awhile and some new cameras are out there maybe there something I missed. I am going on vacation next month but I would prefer not to lug my giant camera with me all the time. I'm going to be shooting some landscapes And obviously some people pictures. Can anyone recommend a bridge camera that shoots Raw and has some decent manual controls. Thanks

I shoot Canon, so I would recommend you check the "Canon Refurbished Cameras" site. If they have an SX50 or SX60, I would jump on either one of those.

SX50 has disappeared off their page.....SX60 has stayed at $378 for a long time....months....I check the 60 often hoping for some kind of price drop....that's about $60-$70 cheaper than new....Remember when the sx50 dropped to $130 or $140 until they were gone everywhere...Then the FZ70 went for $130 om Amazon and even on Best Buy until they were all gone

General (General Imaging) X600 bridge camera...from 27mm out to over 1000mm. Sharp as a tack, all sorts of
shooting options...costs about $100-150...light as a feather, small as a handful.

Take a look at the Sony HX 350. Any cameras you are looking at, look at the picture pool on flickr for that camera. The Sony pictures are quite impressive.

It's only about half your budget and a good place to start. I think it will satisfy you for next several years at least.

Here is a listing of most of what's available: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?ci=8612&N=4288586279+4052359762&origSearch=Bridge+Cameras
You don't have to buy from them, but I suggest you read and compare the specifications and choose the one that most closely fits your needs. I believe you'll gain more satisfaction by doing your own thinking than by asking others to do it for you. Happy hunting!

The Sony RX10 is a bridge camera (many would say the ultimate bridge camera) and it is weather sealed...

I think you need to go either to the Mark II or III on the SONY for weather sealing - I agree, it's an excellent camera but, I think I read somewhere in this thread that the OP wanted to keep cost under $700 - the RX10 is way beyond that budget constraint.

Regarding the Sony HX350.....I still own the HX 300 but this is what a... review
stated t’s a different story in low light however. At the wide angle of the lens, you can use a wide aperture of f/2.8, which helps you to keep the ISO down to below ISO 1600. From around ISO 800 onwards, detail starts to become lost in more areas of the photo, while at ISO 1600 the overall effect is a little painterly. In other words, it’s best to avoid low light situations with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX350 camera if at all possible. That has been an issue with several Bridge cameras i have bought...

Panasonic Lumix LX100 is a great Micro Four Thirds sensor and fixed Leica high speed 24-75mm f1.7-2.8 short zoom lens. Should be available at your $700 price point.

Nope, the RX10 line has been weather sealed from the beginning (see specs in link). If it wasn't mine would have been dead three years ago. I've had it rain soaked many times.

You're correct about it breaking the budget though, but only by $98.

... and used ones in excellent condition for under $600 from both B&H and Adorama

I have the Nikon 9000 and I am quite satisfied with this camera. I used it on a trip to the sea of cortez and my photos ;as well as, movies are good enough to create a program using keynote and i movie. One word of caution however. At 2000mm your photos will not be as sharp as you would wish. I extend the lense to approximately 1500 mm and again I'm quite satisfied with the results. Lynn sumerson
