Agreed. I posted pics as is just to give idea of what the Sigma was capable of.

Is the Sigma that you used the old lens or the new one that was just released, I have the older lens, F4.5-5.6,on a Pentax K5ii and it works great, the newer lens is more compact but also slower.
When Sigma discontinued the 120-400 f 4.5-5.6, I thought it would come out as an art lens, I'm glad that I have old lens, I rather deal with the size to have a faster lens.

Lens was just released in early June. It was light enough for my arthritic hands and compact enough to fit in my backpack for the game drives.

Fine series, my favorite is the leopard and her cub.

Very good shots, silveragemarvel! I had to double download the first one to get a good look at the vulture; he blends in so good with his surroundings.

I like these shots! Must have been an amazing experience. I can only imagine. How do you rate the Sigma as far IQ, color rendition, VC, autofocus, ? I am strongly considering this lens or the Nikon 70-300 fx vr.

I have the Sigma 150-600mm and it is a fast focusing sharp lens. But I needed something that is compact, light and I can shoot handheld. When Sigma announced the 100-400mm, I hoped it would perform almost as well. It certainly was light enough, fast focus and after a few weeks of practice I decided I would use it as my main lens for the safari. I used it right out of the box (no customization via the usb dock) and it did not disappoint. You can judge by my sample photos which did not go thru any PP.

Thanks! I'll go to a dealer and try it out. I do want to actually handle it and feel how comfortable it is to hold and use.

One thing I really liked about the lens is the ability to zoom by pushing/pulling the lens hood when attached.

Oooh nice! Can't wait to try it out. How does the sharpness compare to the 150-600?
