I always hope to see a bear when we go to the mountains, Gary, and I've never seen one! I can sympathize with your wife! lol

Hi Sue,
My wife always wants to see a bear every time we go for a drive in the mountains, but when we get out and start walking on some of the trails or picking huckleberries, she would rather not see a bear. Generally bears don't like associating with people so the odds of actually seeing one is slim. I have a 9mm in my pocket just in case I need to make some noise or stop one. When I was in my teens, I liked to go hunting for bear. It was more of an excuse to just get out in the woods until deer and elk season opened. I now use a camera for hunting, and have for many years. Believe me, using a camera for hunting is a lot less work if you happen to get something.
