There have been three versions of this lens:

1.) Had metal mount
2.) Same as 1 but plastic mount (the version being sold here. Since so small and light, plastic mount is plenty strong.)
3.) Has metal mount (again) and has the STM Focusing Motor.

Note: All three versions have identical optics

Yes, it is. I sold my a while back to buy the new 50mm STM. It is as sharp if not sharper and all focusing takes place without changing the overall length of the lens. I like it very much.

I don't know the seller, but I always find it amazing for some to chime in and say what it is worth, out of production, cheap, plastic, etc. This happens time and time again on this site and I don't understand why. I am on several other sites as well and just don't see this.
As a consumer, I do my own research when purchasing a product. If still not sure, I ask those who are qualified to chime in, but never on the ad of the seller. Just my 2 cents! Note: I have bought and sold on this site and never once have been sold a product I was not happy with.
So please, let's remember, one of us could be on the receiving end of some of these statements when we have something to sell and I know I would not like it. Just saying!

What you have stated +1. It sure makes a person wonder why this is the only site for such poor etiquette by some of its members.

Let's take a look at recent events with the demonstration of the hate groups. Regular folks have had enough and are now calling BS and outing those who exhibit hate.

Although some good members here have made statements on occasion, and I applaud them for their courage, I have to ask. Why are many good members here so reluctant to address the issue of the turds who lambast the buy/sale/trade section of this site? Maybe you have not posted in the for sale forum and been gang banged yet.

Good members of this site, join with me and the few others who speak against the poor behaviour of these few members who are derailing good members ads.

If you are not seriously interested in the item(s) for sale, stay away from the ad. It is common courtesy to the fellow members who have posted in this section.
