I like what you have done with your capture ... get rid of the "stuff" in the water and you could hang this on a wall and it would make for a great conversation piece.

I'm not sure what habit you're not intending to make, but B&W photography can be powerful and emotive. I agree with @truckster about the "stuff" in the water, and I'm not really a bird person, but this is a very good effort!

I like this a lot just as it is. The eye is sharp and that makes a focal point. I find the overall shot very appealing!

I like this very much. The "stuff" in the water does not particularly bother me, but when I try to visualize it in my mind's eye without the "stuff", I can see where it may be slightly more appealing.

I removed the stuff near the grebe's head but left the rest. I like it a little better, but I am still working on pp.

That is the "stuff" I mentioned ... leave the shrubbery at the waters edge ... and only if you intend to print it out and hang it on a wall.
