Just getting back to the conversation.
As I said before, it was a really great event for the area.
There was a lot of back & forth with regard to a whole bunch of things - the tether (ABC made him wear it per contract); would he walk from the USA to Canada or the other way; should there be a charge (yes on the US side for 4000 on Terrapin Point, no on the Canadian side); no viewing from the rainbow bridge - you had to keep moving in a car or on foot; would the birds (falcons) get angry that he was violating their airspace and knock him off the wire; and many more items..........
I had a lot of fun watching and the news media here attested that he was a class act and a "down to earth" guy.
By the way the government laws say that no stunts can be considered for at least another 20 years.

Make it 'interesting!'
First, use a 'thin' cable - not 2 1/2" in diameter.
Second, no 'balance' bar.
Third, no 'thether' either.

They did , in fact there were two, and he pulled his passport out of his back pocket, and they stamped it

I think he was thethered so they could recover the body without looking for it all night.

Well, I dont know what kind of passport he handed over but two smiling police officers or border control folks asked for it and he pulled it out of his pocket wrapped in a plastic bag and handed it over...I think they might even have stamped it but I might be imagining that part as I just recently had my own stamped..
I just saw some pics someone took of him doing it on saw something red page 432 and I think one of them is him handing over his passport to the men and women police

I'm sure Hal will remember this, and maybe some others. In 1962 the Wallendas were performing a 7 person pyramid in Detroit when the pyramid fell apart. Three men fell to the straw covered concrete floor. Two were killed and one paralyzed.

Yes and I think one other member.had been killed awile before that. They go back a long way.

Karl Wallenda, the patriarch, was killed in the 70's when there was a problem with his cable. It truly is a death defying profession!!

This is not interesting to me, due to the tether.
Years ago at a circus there was a guy with a small portable display wagon showing picturers and magazine stories about him going over Niagara falls. No support, he intended to kill himself. He changed his mind just before going over and started swimming like the lunatic he was. He lived to tell about it. He seemed a nervous type of chap collecting donations for his story and getting your picture taken with him. I gave him a small a donation but no picture. Now that was impressive.

Well guys,I look at it this way, having a tether on your
back while walking the length of four foot ball fields
while hanging in the air 200 feet above rushing waters:
to me would be like being on an ambush site in the jungles
of Viet Nam, knowing you had a roll of tolet paper in your
back pocket, yet praying the hold time that the occasion would never show up that you would ever need it.Know what I mean and besides anyone who can walk that distance, while
200 feet in the air and still hold his blatter that long, is
a Hero in my book, no matter what anyone says!
