I see that some of the references provided have a "C" on the model name... and some of the photos don't have the red ring,
I don't think the lens I am showing is that exact lens without the red ring, or with the "C" in the name.

Answering the question, I have used it with two cameras; the Canon T2i and the 50D.

It cost me much more than $280.

I don't have a lot of technical knowledge about this lens. As I said, I have not used it a lot.

Maybe I can find the manual. It was bought new and is not more than 3 years old.

I used it with a T2i and a 50D. Now I only have the T2i. On one of the first references above by 47greyfox specifies a "C" on the model name, so this is not that same model. (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Sigma-18-200mm-f-3.5-6.3-DC-Macro-OS-HSM-Lens.aspx )

Since I bought it some time ago (2-3 years), there must have been some new variations of the lens. Here are some details 1) manual 2) box
that could clarify any information you may need, or not, I know the bare minimum about lenses so I can buy them properly for the cameras I use, so I fear I don't have the vast knowledge you may have to answer most of your "techie" questions.

Here they are:

The DC identifies the lens as being made for APS-C. The lens will mount on a FF Canon but you may get some vignetting at smaller focal lengths. The lens could be used on either APS-C or FF unlike Canon EF-S lenses. The Canon EF-S lenses actually protrude into the mirror area, interfering with the mirror actuation and can cause damage if used. The Sigma's do NOT have that issue. I have Sigma lenses and have used the DC on a Canon 5D but get vignetting at the low end of the zoom.

While the Sigma will mount on a FF Canon, I would never use it that way. Just me, but I don't want to get into the habit of using something that is less than compatible with my FF system.

I am waiting for an offer, not particularly interested on how one can use it since I didn't notice any problem other than creep on the less. There must be somebody that can use it. It is still on sale on eBay and photographic stores.. I suppose the average forum member is buying expensier lenses and have better cameras than I had, but I am getting old, people. Make an offer I cannot resist!
