Just my opinion but I can't think of any game more boring then baseball except for soccer. Don't know how anyone can watch that game, on television or in person.

I'm not a fan either, it's like basketball, people running around and I have no idea whatsoever what they're doing. However, you cannot deny the increasing popularity in this country.

Watching soccer is like watching grass grow--lots of running around, but nothing ever happens. Turn a bunch of kids loose and let them run for a designated amount of time--same result as soccer.

Speaking of baseball being slow and boring, the slow&boring all time prize goes to football. Soccer, hocky, basketball are more exciting for the action.

Interesting subject and interesting answers. Now here's a question for just those who think baseball is to long, slow and boring to watch on TV; Do you watch and/or play Golf? Just curious.

I'm not a big baseball fan, too slow and boring on television. We have a minor league team in our area and going to a game is more fun, not so boring. I grew up in the era of Mantle, Al Kaline and such. I do notice that the home runs hit are longer now, don't know if it's the bat, the ball or the steroids. The only baseball I see is on programs such as sportscenter, never remember players being interviewed and needing a translator. When you're paying these guys in the millions the fan pays that bill with larger ticket prices, which is why there are more empty seats. I don't know what a hot dog and drink cost now but it wouldn't surprise me if it was over $10, that's a lot of money if you're taking 2 or 3 kids.

I think you have hit the nail on the head for the biggest reason there are so many empty seats; the ticket prices would make a lot of millionaires think twice before they went to a game. They are definitely out of the range of the average family on an average income. Everyone gripes about the salaries of the players; at least they are putting their health on the line and know that their career could be ended at any time. But why does no one complain about the profits the owners make? Standard formula to know the profits to the owner; take the salary of the entire baseball team, double it, and that's what the owners make in a year.

Basketball is more boring than baseball but not by much. I came to dislike basketball back in high school when the dopey refs were blowing their whistles and calling a foul every five seconds.
Went to a Giants game in Candlestick Park many years ago. That was about the most boring three hours I can recall.

Yes! Cricket is like baseball, but without the frantic pace. I'm just becoming a cricket fan, specifically the New Zealand Blackcaps. Kane Williamson is the best, but I'm more of a Mitchell Santner fan. Actually, a T20 game is relatively fast, about like a baseball game. A 5-day test match is, shall we say, an acquired taste, though I do see the appeal. Lots of strategy, more than baseball I think.

For the record, I'm a Red Sox fan, in my 60s. I love baseball, the DH, triples, pitcher's duels, intentional walks without having to deliver the pitches, rules that keep fielders from getting killed, and umpires getting the calls right because of replay reviews. I don't love relief pitchers who strike out the side with 100 mph fastballs, batters who step out after every pitch, or pitchers who forget to deliver a pitch, at least once in a while.

The players are still making millions per year, right? That's all that really matters.

If the fans are staying away, where are the millions paid to players coming from? TV???

Ever play the game? There's more going on if you know what to look for. I'm amazed at what today's pitchers can do with the ball. Each at bat is a mano a mano contest. As a former catcher, perhaps I appreciate that part of the game more. As far as the ball going further today, as somebody mentioned....have you noticed how big these guys are today? We got lucky once and had tickets just behind home plate at a Rangers-Yankees game. Big guys.

Not all but most ball players are big guys. And seem to be getting bigger. While racecar drivers are getting smaller. Years ago there was Jr Johnson & tiny Lund and a few more 300lb'ers. They helped hold the car down. Now they are built like jockies. The lighter the better.

I guess before long the race drivers will sit up next to the press box controlling their cars by computer. O my what is this world coming to??

A few years ago, in CF seat, hot dog, drink cost about $25, LAD game! about 4-5 X 20s yr ago?

Remember when in 1965, Koufax wanted $125K & Drysdale wanted $110K. The sat out spring training.
We sat upstairs for $3.50. Parking was $400 for season ticket holders.
