I final comment. I've retired the old 2005 laptop, too old and not worth messing with the nic drivers which are an identified issue. I can make it work with a USB nic, but it simply isn't worth the effort. Reclying the hard drive, and the rest is destined for the big electronic recycling bin in the sky. This is not a Windows 10 problem, just the lifecycle of technology.

There comes a time when the old electronics has to go. Long live the junkyard!!!!!

Mine is still fairly new fast machine and it is a windows up date problem. Biggest thing with mine was as I got it new it was updated from windows 7 to windows 9 and then windows 10. I believe the catch part of the mess. Still runs great for 6 months then I swear windows an or windows defender up date a dozen time with in the last 3 months. Screw it all up again. I was just about ready to install a digital hard drive just for windows and a new/clean windows 10 purchase as I do not own a window 10 disk. But I got it running so good ..... four a week ? ! Now it's slipping back into multi updates again... chetshi Even if I turn updates off they turn them back on.
