Olympus Store

Am I alone, or has anyone else weathered a purchase through the Olympus store? They are offering incentives to trade in gear for credits towards Olympus cameras and lenses. I sold my Canon kit--Olympus works through a third party, but the deal seemed fair to me--and ordered the OM-D E-M1 Mark II and two PRO lenses. The trade and new equipment were nearly equal.
However, my April 10th order still has not shipped the camera body. Lenses arrived within a week, but I heard NOT ONE WORD from Olympus--no thanks, no confirmation, no shipping date, no tracking. I had to dig deep to get to their Order Support; they apologized and said shipping problems were causing delays and it would be another week. Ten days later, I called again, got a second apology and was told there was a "maybe 1-2 week delay". To add insult to injury, B and H has been shipping the camera since April 19th. Yes, GAS is frustrating, and I can understand shipping delays, but not hearing from Olympus is insulting. The entire transaction could have been smoother. It is as if their left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
Fortunately, I do have their old M-5 so I am able to continue shooting, with the new lenses. Thanks for listening. These counseling sessions do me so much good.

I know what you mean. You order it, they put it in a box and send it to you. Some companies are just not set up for shipping. Amazon sometimes gets things to me overnight.

I've only once ordered directly from the Olympus store. Item was shipped the same day I ordered it and arrived at my home 8 days later (included stop-over at customs).

I feel your pain. I can't understand how a company can do this to a customer. With all the competition they have to compete with in this day and age i don't know how they can do this. Keep bugging them...their off my list of manufactures.

I have purchased several refurbished items directly from them with no issues. Maybe their process is different for the sale of refurbished goods. The shipping used there took three days at the most. Sorry you are having issues with them. I hope your new body arrives soon.

I have had very prompt shipping from Olympus. The unusual delay and multiple apologies sounds like a lapse in supply and imports...

You are the loser on that vow. I buy from them all the time... excellent service... new or refurb. Never heard anyone with the OP's complaint. Olympus, along with Fujifilm are the most creative camera mfrs in existence, and we don't know their half of the story. But they are cranking out new and ingenious stuff like crazy. Have been since the OM series camera's in the early 1970's.

The only advantage of ordering an EM1 mark II direct from Olympus over a really good camera shop in the UK (as far as I'm concerned) was the free zoo photographic shoots Olympus offered. That said, all the sites on offer were many, many miles from my home address. I had a great deal from London Camera Exchange, Leamington Spa, (I have bought/sold from them for some time) when I part exchanged my 2 x EM1's + 4 lenses and received my EM1.2 + 12 - 100mm f4 on 17/12/16. I can understand your frustration and hope it arrives soon.

I have Olympus camera and lenses but I never bought from them. I usually buy used and it has worked for me.
Olympus prices at their store are higher than I would like to pay. I guess someone has to be crazy to pay over $300 for their pancake 14-42 EZ kit lens, which I have never used but does not necessarily has good reviews. I use the 14-42 R II with very good results and I bought it practically brand new for only $50. It has served me well.
Since I have never used their services I cannot make any comments on your experience with them.

I hope your mark II arrives soon. Waiting is a challenge. I purchased a Mark II in January from Glazers Camera in Seattle. I am really enjoying it after downsizing from a Canon 5 D MK II.

I can't imagine your list of manufacturers you are boycotting. EVERY company messes up at least once. Even though we are only hearing one side of the story, I feel the OP's pain. I have purchased many items directly from Olympus, shipping was always on time (2 days service).

I wouldn't want to be in your shoes, I understand your frustration, but if there are shipping delays, it isn't easy to provide concrete shipping times. At least you will have fresh inventory. Be patient. And use the EM5. Because I have a feeling that once you get your hands on the new EM1, that will be the end of your relationship with the em5.

I would return the items they shipped earlier, demand a refund and go buy from B & H. Alerting the hogg as to how they do business and hide truths from customers is the best thing you can do; maybe they will get the message when suddenly orders through them directly tumble.
