My 2 year old has a thing for putting his toys and other foreign objects in the openings if my Canon pixma ix6800. Now everything I print is green! I use aftermarket ink and I've had the printer a little over a year. Is there anything I can do to fix it or am I forced to upgrade to the pixma pro 100? Keep in mind I'm a single mom of 2 so, as much as I would love to just buy a new one, money's tight and I already spend way too much on this hobby.

I think you should check to see if there is anything still inside look to see if there are any damaged ribbon cables and see if you can print the print test page. It's a great printer but you might be able to find a rebated replacement, also ebay often has a few usually with no ink and no printhead but your printhead may be ok. Otherwise maybe canon might help for a price.
Sorry I misread i thought you had the pro100 already i think you may be due an upgrade :)
I know you said money is tight (ain't that always the truth?) but remember, you will be printing pictures of your two youngsters, so only the best will do!
I have the Pixma Pro 100 and it does a wonderfull job though Canon inks are pricey.
And as has been mentioned they practically give this printer away.
Thanks all for the advice. Looks like there's a pro 100 in my future :)

You will get a full set of inks with the printer so at least you will have a place to start.
Actually no. The ink that ships with a new Canon printer is just enough to get you going before one of the tanks runs out. And the way a photorealistic printer works, you have to replace all 8 cartridges at once.

You can replace cartridges one at a time, I have done it often.
See if you can find a cover for it to possibly prevent it from happening again if you get another printer.

Really? What evidence do you have to support that? It certainly isn't my experience with Canon printers, either the Pro models or other variants.
Also the Pixma Pro, big beast that it is, closes up very nicely and should be relatively proof against a toddler, ingenious as they are!

Yes Peter agreed, false information. The Pixmas come with full cartridges. That is from my experience as well.

I bought mine last year and they were a full set.

That's a great idea. I've baby-proofed the rest of my house, why not my own valuables? Little stinker is too smart for his own good.
I have 3 Canon printers, a TS9020, Pro 100 and Pro 10. If the bulk of your prints are 8.5 X 11 or smaller, the 9020 is far cheaper to run than the Pro 100 and the Pro 10 and with 6 cartridges, the color prints are really quite good and the 9020's footprint is less than 1/3 that of the Pro 10 and 100 and, a normal human being can pick it up. The Pro 100 is the same size as the Pro 10 and it is a BIG heavy printer. Plus, it's easier to find ink cartridges for the 9020 than the Pro 100.
I use the pro 100 in my business an use the knock off inks on eBay whole set of 8 for 29.00 free shipping they work great just as good as canon ink as long as you calibrate your printer I use color mummies photo
